a method to select ships by rank

i never know if these ideas are any good. but i was thinking that it might be useful to select ships based on rank

perhaps a set of buttons somewhere with the options of unranked, rank 1, rank 2, officer rank 1, officer rank 2 and veteran.

and pretty much what it says. if you click on the button with officer rank 2, all ships with double gold bars appear in the screen that you  would  normally see while selecting a fleet

may be of use for several reasons:

always keeping an eye out for that double gold bar ship. just click a button, and if you have any they will automatically be selected. congratulations, you may now promote

already have a veteran? want to see how they're doing health wise? do they need repairing? click the veteran button, and presto bingo. you see the various ships you have so far promoted to veteran

wanting a particular kind of veteran? looking for that certain special ability. zip through all the ranks and look at which ship has the highest rank of that class. you have no double gold bar galaxies, but you do have a single gold bar. along with a single gold bar intrepid, and akira. select the galaxy, and micro it into battle to give it the experience and achieve veteran.

wanting to know how powerful your overall fleet is? where do the majority of your fleets lie? skim through the ranks again to see how they balance.

have a particularly difficult task at hand? only want the best of your ships to face the challenge? just select the rank buttons to see which has a suitable number for the task in mind. upon selecting rank 2, you see you have 7 ships that qualify. with those selected ships create a new fleet shift+ctrl+1. need a couple more ships? have a couple ships in officer rank 1? shift+ctrl+1 and now you have a healthy fleet of 10 ships. all of them ranked. so you know when they go into battle they will fight bravely.

you realize you have quite a vast number of ships that are ranked, but have 4 ships that are still unranked. time to get those green crew sent into battle. give those ships a couple of higher ranked ships, and send them hunting some miners so they can rank up and join the elite levels of your other fleets.

etc. etc. etc.

pretend i said it with lots of gusto and enthusiasm. if it helps, pretend i served you desert as well. with icing. and strawberries.

ive made a slideshow with pictures, and have spread sheets and cross reference tables and bar graphs that clearly illustrate the potential of this idea. to see them, vote in favour of this idea and ill be sure to upload them straight away.

i agree. reading the first few sentences is really all thats needed...

its not an idea out of necessity really, just convenience.

the major one is just watching out for when to promote to veteran. and i would use it for getting unranked ships ranked, and maybe keeping ranked ships together for a good battle.
