Firstly, I wanna say that Fleet Operations is the single greatest mod for Armada 1 or 2 IMHO. However, I think there's a lot that could be added. Here's a list of what I think it's missing so far.

1. AI cloaking.
I may be wrong but I don't think I've actualy seen AI Klingon or Romulan use their cloaking devices. They may do be doing it for a few ships and I just can seen them cause they're cloake  :D but when the Romulans don't even cloak their scout ship it just doesn't make sense. Plus, suddenly decloaking an
armada for a surprise can be downright devastating. I realize this may be because the AI can't tell the difference between an opponent that has tachyon detection and allowing to them to continue cloaking even though I can see them would essentially take out of the competition, but surely there's some way to improve this.

2. More structures.
This isn't really necessary, but personally I would like to see more structures in FO. I would really like to something like an enhanced starbase/battestation. A cheap repair station for small ships would nice as well. Maybe some cloaked mines like the ones in DS9. Or perhaps large, expensive sensor array. I know these are pretty much just modified versions of original structures, but I still think it would be a nice addition.

3, Weapons fire.
This one is pretty trivial, but still something that would be great to see. For one, phaser/disruptor bursts seem way too long. In all of the star trek episodes, a single phaser discharge only lasted a fraction of a second, probably somewhere around .2 or .3 seconds, but in Armada it lasts for around a full second. It kind of takes of away from the experience when there are a 10-20 different phaser beams striking a ship at any one time.

4. I love the Evasive manuevers ability the cheapest combat ship has for the races. I think it adds alot to the realism. I don't know how it works, but if possible, I think that it should be applied to all ships as a sort of "manuverability index". Basicaly the smaller and faster the ship, the harder it is to hit it. This way something like an Excelsior II class wouldn't get hit as much as a galaxy, and a defiant class could work the way it did in DS9.

1)  Easy answer:  play online!  The AI has so many deficiencies I don't really see the point in correcting something like this unless they were going to do some huge AI overhaul, but that would take to much time away from the important stuff...like the borg!

2)  I like the enhanced starbase/battlestation idea, could be a like the ultimate way to lay a claim to an area of space.  I think the dominion have the sensor array covered...

3)Hmm...I'll have to think about that one.

4) yes, this idea i really like, makes it more simulation and less rock/paper/scissors

ya nice ideas

1) ya the AI is lame I just play lan :D

2) more verity is nice just as long as it dose not give that race to good of an advantage :)

3) the shots should be shorter

4)I never used evasive maneuvers before. and the idea of smaller means harder to hit has come up before and I agree

welcome to the forum

tnx MER

Heyho and welcome to the forums.

Smaller vessels like destroyers already have a 40 percent chance to dodge torpedoes :)
