A couple of odf additions

I don't know if this has already been suggested but I have a couple of ideas:

  • A1 style starbase building over planets, you get a crew increase bonus when you build over planets.
  • Build order, ships are built/named in the order of their names in the odf file, makes it more realistic if one has registry numbers on their ships

that would be cool, other than just forcing the engine to name them X-A, X-B... when you have more than one of the same name.

I had a suggestion to imporve the fighter system, but I can't remember it now. :(  I will post again when I remember. :pinch:

I would also like to see an odf command that allows you to set in the units odf file what their default alert status, and movement autonomy is. I just hate my ships running off chasing an enemy because I forgot to set the construction ships, starbase and shipyards to low movement.

Interesting suggestions - I'm not sure if you knew, but you can actually set the autonomy and alert statuses of buildings, which causes all units produced from them to be set at those statuses  :sweatdrop: . Not the same thing obviously, but might help with some issues :)

I know that is possible because the mixed tech yards build using a different setting than the regular yards

There is a 'default Green alert' line in the Cardassian Dreadnought odf. If that doesn't work with other settings, the devs could probably make it.

the foundation for "starbase near planet" building is in parts coming with next patch and is being used there for the romulan turrets to indicate if they are in range of an energy relay. a 'blue' building indicator like the one known from armada 1 is being used for that.
currently this is nothing more than just an indicator but easily some code could be added for that so that vessels or stations could benefit from being near a planet or something else. with some tricks like extraweapons or similar this can be already used to some extent with the next patch. (though the classic armada 1 planet usage won't be possible as of now as you can only 'link' to allied objects currently) there is a lot more stuff with that planned.

Thanks, it does work and does the trick for me. Thanks for the tip. :)

Still it's a step in the right direction, looking forward to the next patch for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
