2 ideas for yards

The first idea only counts for the small yard of the dominion since yard rush is very powerful. Give the yard less shields to make hull damage more common.

The second idea counts for all yards.
Whenever a subsystem of the yard is disabled, all production stops for that amount of time (or is reset).
Also an increase in subsystem damage for yards in general would be nice.

This way some of the supportive vessels like Griffins, Dodes or Canaverals get some more opportunities vs double yard strats. The do not do any more damage but they interrupt/stop ship production.

I would like the subsystem to only be weapons, otherwise we might see broken sensors causing production delays. :sweatdrop:
Maybe instead of less shields it could get ADAI so that supports do well against it?

yards with passives? why not lol :pinch:

im against having subsystems being disabled stopping production.

i would propose that any attack pauses construction. scouts cant do this for balancing reasons. this can be explained by saying that the yard must use all its power for defensive purposes and that health and safety laws prevent crews working on ships when under attack, all crew must report to designated areas.

Any attack pausing construction? That would be really powerful, you would see people just send one ship at a time to attack and hold off production forever. Maybe Federation yards could pause construction when they lose shields, while Romulans and Dominion could go a little further, and Klingons never stop building.

I can't see the Dominion pausing and the Klingons ignoring attacks. Unlike the Klingons, the Dominion couldn't give a crap what happens to the crew. Swap those 2 around, and I'd agree with it.

that is a risk.

maybe if a certain % of shields is lost. klinks yes should forget about safety, as should dominion. feds would be easy to stop as they can defend well already. roms would be middle of the road.

Dominion would care if the yard contained valuable ketracel white that was being used for the large crew and the ships being built. Remember too that this is to help stop yard-rushing, so there's a gameplay reason.

thats a valid point as well. they wouldnt care about the jemhadar, but they would care about the white.

White can be replaced just as easily as the crew, and would be kept in a heavily defended area away from the construction section that would be targeted.

The gameplay part I can agree with, just not the implication that Klingons care less about their crew than the Dominion care for their mindless, unvalued slaves. They have their limits, maybe non should ignore attack entirley.

lol now the argument is where the white is stored in shipyards. it may not even be in shipyards at all. it may get refilled from starbases or white facilities.

i want to say that the dominion yard would be easily vulnerable to construction pauses, to discourage them being used so offensively. but its hard to find a concrete reason to make this so. maybe we can just say that dominion technology doesnt work well under fire and leave it at that.

klingon yards definitely fit the idea of working under fire. klingons are crazy. and they dont usually use yards like that. field yards have extensions so you dont often build a second field yard unless u wanna spam.

feds i wanted to be vulernable because the feds are overly safety minded, and that feds can use some weaknesses. they have decent turret systems to protect their yards if needed.

romulans would be middle of the road with their yards.

Have yards build/repair slower if their shields are not at 100%.

If shields drop, lower the repair/build rate even more with  damage it takes.

Have the yards take damage for each ship they repair.  That way, if you repair too many ships, you blow up your own yard! :woot:

Good idea, Mal!   However, I think that you should be able to UPGRADE the yards with "elite engineering teams" that let you Repair ships 3 TIMES as fast!  Prolly should limit that to Feds though.  Wouldn't want Feddies losing their ships now that warpins cost supply when they die!  :woot:

maybe the feds could start with 3 upgraded newtons that dont contribute to the cap. and have warp drive. and pulse phasers from the defiant.

What if when the shields of a yard go down all production and repairs stop?
