Um guys I think it comes down to the situation, I go warp ins when the situation deems it. Sometimes double yarding isn't the best, for instance if I'm getting hit by leahval spam I don't want to go double yard all the time because warpins work really well at adding the extra damage while your monsoon fleet builds up

Did we not just see a replay where Ray won a game without using warp ins against a fed player who did use warp ins to help put the numbers in his favor?  Neither Ray or 23 down are noobs, and while they made mistakes, both sides made mistakes, so it kind of evens out.

I mean, it's a great example.  What more do you want? :whistling:

Early warp-in is certainly a viable strategy.  We probably see it more often with newer players, as it's an easy strategy to memorize, but it's also an easy one to counter.  Especially for the romulans now that their gameplay was given a strong boost.

actually leahvals counter most warpins.

e1: adai suffers to leahvals
gal/centaur/rhode island/nebs: all medium range and take 30% extra damage
ambassador: deals 10% less to short range leahvals.

double yard monsoon spam is your best bet against leahvals. you will definitely lose some to meta D (meta d is really good at getting kills) and you wont kill any with phasers (assuming they micro properly). but you will vastly outnumber them, and in each battle you should kill one of their leahvals with proxi torp and they kill at least 1 of your mons with meta D. you can afford a monsoon loss, they cant afford to lose a leahval as they are extremely expensive, useful, but costly.

My experince: if you go for early warpin, you tend to only get no more than 2 intreps up by then, which means if you allready have found the enemy expansion (or main base mining if exposed) you can usually have the warpin or the intreps (on small to medium sized maps) arrive and start hitting, and whichever arrives first will not be alone for long. Early game warpins are best to be used to give you the added punch to rape the enemies econemy early on, allowing you to out build him and past that to either ADD power to your pre-existing fleets if allocated properly (IE: put your ambasador with your other fast dongfighter ships like intre/monsoon/norway/defiant) or to be used defensevly and stay at your base ready to repair and shoot.

Using them defensevly later on is a big thing due to the supply loss then can cause, especilly for the Excelcior which is slow, however once you got a good fleet and out of supply, loosing them is no biggie, infact once allready out of supply I'm MORE than happy to loose most common warpins if it gets the rest of my ships away, as I can then warpin again and try for something better.

It helps that excelciors are also slow, so tend to be the sacrifical lamb anyway.

May seem odd, but if it's a case of having to pick what to loose, I'll pick the ship thats free (if Im low/out of supply) over one I paid for any day, since next warpin gets me moer ships.

Of course at the same time, the more powerful warpins I still will try to keep alive.

Or you could pull a Tok'ra by suiciding six warpins (Nebs, Excels, and an Ambas) along with eight Intreps, all to try to take out a single singularity generator, and STILL have enough Fedspam left over to roll six ranked Leahval with Reeling, Auto-Repair, and the support of a Singularity Generator.

I'm sorry, was someone flapping some nonsense about the Feds being properly balanced?

The best part: I was out of supply allready. THOSE WARPINS DIDNT COST ME ANYTHING!
