veteran steamrunner overpowered

today i played as ffeds against klingons.
i got a veteran steamrunner(killed one bilder, a mining station and 2 yards)
so i said: i'll try out my new vet.steamrunner. i moved it inside a fleet and got near enemy starbase.
the ships killed of the defending army, (the rest was on the way to my base, and now wrecking rampage in enemy base. now i tried to use my steamrunner to weaken the starbase a bit.
it needed 15 seconds to destroy it.
i think even one vet.steamrunner ist way to strong, and the vet. ability should just transfer a percentage of th damage to hull, not everything.
imagine 3 vet steamrunners coming into your base, needing 6 seconds or so to destroy your stabase, taking out all turrets from afar, and also killing ships as fast as a medium cruiser.

what are your experiences with steamrunners?

Steamrunners are fine. Yes they are a strong artillery ship, but that's why they are limited to warp-in.

Not only will Steamrunners be automatically targeted before nearly any other Federation ship by attackers, but once a heavy cruiser or battleship closes to range on one, it's dead unless it has cover. I love them, but I can't just use them without escort.

Yeah, considering they are the very first ship I target... very few people ever get to rank them up once--let alone get them to veteran level :)

Veteran Torpedo Refit Rhienn is pretty powerful too... but I wouldn't dare say any of the veterans are overpowered... given that it rarely occurs, and is more due to chance B)

If they are well protected Steamrunners actually rank up pretty quickly due to the amount of damage that they deal.

How pray tell do you protect something well if it is the first thing to be targeted?  :blink:

I think that the veteran steamrunner should have a little less attack power, but in return have a little bit more defense as a veteran, cause it dies really easily and I rarely get them to level up, but with the proper escort and 2 veteran steamrunners I took down a base quite fast.

Why weaken the veteran Steamrunner? If a ship like that can survive to veteran, then it deserves the power it gets.

yeah, you forget that steamrunners have no close rasnge phasers, and lower defenses then an intrepid, take them out early
