The Norway and its way to north

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Since the patch is released, the Norway Class of Admiral Mayson seems to be more popular again. I just want to collect the thought of the community about her and why you think she is so strong or why you think she might be to weak, just collecting the feedback.

As a small side note: there was a bug in the 3.1 balancing database, causing the Canaveral and the Norway to cost around 10 percent less resources then intended

The Norway is a beast again - it obliterates ships very quickly in that one click wonder  . Combined with the slow moving wall of torpedoes known as the Excel II, and the Warp-Ins, opposing forces just melt. Seeing as the Klingons are now the only force that really opposes the Norway (where you will see the ship being used mainly) this trifecta is just too darn effective.

The missing cost increase would definitely help here. However, I am extremely puzzled as to why the Sensor Jammer is hard countered (meaning doing little to no damage at all) from everything above the first destroyer you can produce, and the Norway's Plasma Coil is not (it can easily destroy most early game vessels). The Feds have got their nuke back.

That's why I said that's where you'll the ship being used mainly (against Klingons... and of course Dominion and Romulan - but they don't stand a chance anyway  :sweatdrop:) . Against Borg, same strategy as before - Warp Ins, Intrepids/Monsoons (depending on which units you wish to counter) and Excel II's.

I haven't played as Mayson yet, but I have noticed that even a single Norway's Plasma Coil does exceedingly heavy amounts of damage again.

To be honest I think this could remain the way it is ... if you made the plasma coil itself be centered AROUND the Norway.  The double affect being that the Norway is already short-ranged and this would mean it has to close quickly to release Plasma Coil.

But frankly yes, the Norway is back to being a spammable beast.  There is a nice loss for Mayson though if he chooses to completely ignore his other vessels: he misses out on his fast destroyers in the Monsoon and Intrepid, which with the speed increases make them ideal and almost necessary for projecting power across the map.

maybe.  But maybe it is just because your great at this game.  Or maybe it is because other people are NOT so great (John Doe),
or maybe it is some combination of the above.

I detected a small mistake in one of the new formulas, causing plasma coil to deal to much damage.. will be fixed

Is it?  To be honest when a few Norways were out I had enough Kvorts to destroy them quickly, though when a single Norway managed a plasma coil on 5 of my kvorts they lost probably 40% of their shields in a dew quick seconds.  Both seemed to be a bit out of balance though and would be better tested against units that stayed relatively the same over the patch.
