the fed AI is not good it takes forever for them to build a eraudi yard

Um. What level AI are you playing against? I'm sure it probably isn't on hard if they take more than a few minutes to build an Eraudi Yard. Also what resource setting are you using? Unlimited resources does not necessarily have the impact of causing the AI to tech up faster and or produce more vessels.

Heh, pretty broad assessment of the AI, really .... :D

If it's not "good" enough for you, make it harder.  The AI is very customizable.  You can increase the difficulty, you can decrease their ships costs, you can INCREASE you own handicap.

The AI can't really get SMARTER because it's an AI and it has limitations.  However, you CAN make it tougher ^-^

Hrrm ... well ... again the AI can't learn and doesn't always do things the way they SHOULD.

Hard to make an AI support you the way you want to be supported in team games :).

Unlimited resources will screw up the AI completely :) .

Its not just you. Let me explain: Resource settings like 'unlimited etc'.  and AI settings like 'normal' and 'hard' etc. Are two VERY very different things.

My suggestion: Set the AI to hard and set resources to 'double' but NOT 'unlimited' and hold on to your shorts cause the feds will spam the crap out of you! trust me! You may not get that many Sovvy's thrown at you but you will be in for a hell of a fight.

EDIT: and yes Eraudi yard builds sovereigns.

I play against fed hard ai (along with 6 other hard ai) on a regular basis.  You've set something strange in your settings.

I routinely get assailed by giant swarms of sovvies, excel-II, Phalanx, defiant and remore, backed up by even bigger swarms of akira, intrepid, norway, nova, and canaveral.  At the same time, everything they own gets quickly surrounded by Mayson turrets.

And that's not 45 minutes in.  It's way earlier than that.  They're bad enough to deal with that I occassionally sacrifice a few ships to lure a borg fleet to them, and hope that the fleet engages rather than just coming at my base.

I'm really not sure what you're doing wrong, other than messing with the resources available.  I never adjust resources settings.  In fact, the most I adjust is to tweak AI cost and speed from 1.0 to 1.10...and that's only when I'm feeling lazy.

(No, I refuse to sit on an asymmetrical map with 7 merciless AI.  Not happening.  Not fun.)

Is Setting the resources to unlimited going to do anything for the AI when they already have an unlimited supply?  I think your best bet is to fool around with the "AI COST" & "AI BUILD TIME"  sliders.  Pull them to the left

Though, pulling them all the way over, will probably end your day in Sto'Vo'Kor, or someplace equivalent.  Trial & Error can find the sweet spot (for each race).  I have a few loose guidelines for this, but I tend to play against the computer like there's a meth-headed badger in my pants and exploding a ton of stuff is the only way to lull him back to sleep.  (Not for Everyone?)

Also, to a lot of your AI difficulty references, are you guys talking about hard on a scale of "EASY/MEDIUM/HARD"  OR: "NORMAL/HARD/IMPOSSIBLE" ??

"NORMAL/HARD/IMPOSSIBLE"

Hard, as in 'hard' setting, instead of normal or merciless, when you select the AI.
