@dominus_noctis

I'd like it! Armada's ships roll out quicker than even cars. I never understood, why people always want to see vessels behave like marbles in a sandbox. Peoples common view of the speed-chap dependent of the vessels size is another example of irrational notion. Noone would normally come to the conclusion that a Ford kA is faster than a Jaguar XJR-15, just because it's merely half the size.

I'd also like to see that a ship with engines off will not circumvent objects, but hit them and whatever happens then.  :lol:

@Unleash Mayhem

For what reason shall Risner be more clever than Martok or anyone else? The only point I can see, why such a grey flight shall not be implemented, is, that is would make a new button for all vessels, which is certainly no problem for one feature, but it would not stay the only for too long.

I was thinking it might be a modification of green alert in AI menu.

I wouldn't be surprised if activated Engine's attract mines, while Thrusters won't.

Speaking of which, isn't it normally the Warp Drive that attracts things to the ship? The Warp field, at least.

I think you should me able to muve slightly. alseast steer your drift.  Lets not forget menuvering thrusters.

If something like silent running was made, it should be disable engines, and drift on inertia. When thats gone, you're left dead in the water until your engines come back up. It has to have a massive downside to it, and this would be it.

As Warp is deactivated in FO, nothing would ever be attracted to a ship, if the warp-bubble was the only attraction. As thrust (even for steering/manuvering !) causes exhaust (electro-plasma in StarTrek), and that one is most likely visible (due to interaction of exhaust particles), any object with sensors may spot it  and accelerate towards it, if it has a thruster itself.

There are possiblities to achieve unidirectional, not interacting exhaust, that may be invisible to sensors. A low-density ion thruster or a photon thruster could most likly not be detected, but their acceleration values are so extremly poor, that noone would implement them.

A warp bubble (if is was possible) would only attract things in it's immideate vicinity, because a warpin ship is much too fast to even be detected within a proper reaction time.

if we include wapr we should have omega particles on the maps... destroy them to disable warp  :lol:

Actually I think just the existance of Omega particles in our disabled warp.  Destroying them would be another thing.  But we are getting off subject, so how about omega particle mines? :D

indeed! self-explosive white glowing woms with sensor bristels, that accelerate by flatulation! be careful out there! :lol:
