Federation ships weakened.

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Algight, I have been playing some 3.0.7 games as the federation, and I am very surprised.  They work very well, and they are plenty strong to hold of the other races thanks to some warp in boosts.  All I wanted to say, was that it seems that a couple of my favorite ships are now too easily destroyed.

First of all, the Norway.  This ship used to be the strongest ship and had the best ability in its yard. Now it seems that no matter how many I build they are always the first ones destroyed in a battle.  Also I cant seem to get the Comp to use its weapons wen set to auto.  IMO I liked it better wen this ship was killer for Mayson, and without it, it makes it very hard to rush as mayson, because they get destroyed before the sovereigns and larger ships get there.

Second is the Defiant.  I rember this ship being a borg killer, being to take down a cube with just a few of them.  Now, just like the Norway it is very easily picked off.  Not only that, but its critical hit seems to lo very little damage, compared to the ACS (or whatever) ability of the Excelcior II.

I was just wondering, if this is going to stay, because it seemed to make more sense wen these great ships were worth the time and resources you spend on them.  Both of these are expansive, when you buy all the upgrades for the Norway, and the defiant in general.  Is anyone else with me?

I'm sorry, but I don't agree. The norway was huge overkill. It is much better balanced now and still the best thing to build. Don't set your norways to automatic though, they will use energy transfer and waste special energy.

You said it yourself. A few of them can take out a borg cube! That's imbalance if ever I heard it. The defiant is the same ship, it's just some ships are better at resisting subsystem disabling weapons.

Yep, Borg vessels in particular and Romulan vessels are more resistant to subsystem failure, due to their higher system values.

I never noticed a subsystem failure at a Borgvessel (but engines after bug-ramming).

I actually lost weapons on a Holding Beam cube!  6 Vorcha all hit it with their Polaron Torpedo, and I suspect that the sheer amount of subsystem damage done by those, combined with a bit of bad luck, all went into the weapons and broke them.  It was kinda cool.

Actually what I meant was that I know they were over kill earlier.  All I mean to say, is I wish they weren't soo dumbed down.  Like I said they are Very easily destroyed.

Hm, there shouldn't be any stats adjustments except some bugfixes (some Mixed-Tech versions and Dominion Prototypes had some incorrect base attributes)

yep, even special weapons that would have an effect for sure (like the Polaron Torpedo that shoudl always disable a subsystem) may have a chance to fail. The decission is made via a table and a single roll. The higher the system value, the larger gets the "effect fails" field  ^-^

I have to say i rarely choose to use the Defiant so i can't comment on that ship. However the Norway is still an exceptionally useful little ship. All three of its abilities have their uses and if micromanaged well they still dent an opponents fleet.

At that point you withdraw them and let loose with massed Saber and Canaveral (early on) or Canaveral, Remore and Excelsior mark II later on.

Very little can withstand that and by withdrawing your Norways and using them to power up your other ships with the energy transfer once you have used plasma coil, things suddenly become a lot easier. You go into battle having plasma coiled the opposing fleet. You then Blackout them. Any major threats get hit by precise volley. Some Remore's apply ECM to protect the fleet and then finally keep 1 or 2 to use vector control thingy to increase the rate of fire on a ship or two to take out high priority (watching a Descent with a 40% in rate of fire open up on battleships is quite amusing due to its 2 Quantum Torpedo launchers!!)

The defiant is still strong but only in masses. A full attack wing of defiant class disables the weapons of a space station an when they become level 4,5 or 6 they are THE KILLERs.

I also think the Plasma bold isnt very useful anymore as it does so little damage to enemy ships.

I noticed that the KI prefers to destroy support vessels first. But this take a lot of fire from your bigger ships.

they do.
barely, but they do.

it takes 2 bugs usually, unless the ship was already damaged,
