descent
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

i just wanted to ask what you thoughts about the descent are^^
in my opinion the defensive value should be lowered a bit, but the system value highered.
as it is now, the shield recharges only really slow, and that doesn' really suits the ship well, i think
also i think, that the shots per quantum torp-volley should be lowered and the rate of fire highered, because now the chance of overkill, and it doesnt fit the slow well armored ship to do hit&run tactics with torp volleys.
what do you think bout this?

Honestly, I think the Descent fits its role fine right now. Often times I'll use it when I start major fleet action, and need some shield boosting capabilities. Used in conjunction with Outposts, you can do a great deal of damage (recharging the shields). Why did you state "it doesnt fit the slow well armored ship to do hit&run tactics with torp volleys"? I'm a little confused... I never use the Descent for hit and run...

i meant that firing a great volley of torps and a slow reload time would be good for a ship that could hit&run, but i thought a more constant stream of damage woiiuld suit the descent a bit better^^

Ah well, it is an experimental vessel armed with a q-torp launcher (hence the volleyed fire)... and it has a low offensive value which reflects the slow reload time I guess... dunno if that should be changed though--I am fine with it either way

The current 'defensive battleship' is quite in-line with what Starfleet would most likely actually use.

I agree
In addition, the descent is an experimental ship it shouldn't be perfect because it hasen't gone through all of the R&D process that all the other federation vessles have and as such, shouldent nessisaraly be maxed out with no room for improvement over time.

descent is fine. its mean to absorb more damage than it deals. and it does just that...

Descent is fine how it is. I think we just need more ships that have random "buggy" features and make it more of an experimental ship.

Hmm... never thought of that... although sometimes it seems like the descent shield reset doesn't work as intended the first time. But that's usually because of the supply cost and the fact that you don't get an alert when you don't have enough supplies to perform a shield reset. Kind of annoying. But yeah buggy systems would be cool. Like a chance the shield reset has some sort of an adverse affect on surrounding ships... not sure if it would make me happy but its a cool idea for experimental ships, after all if it works every time it's not very experimental.

I think its mostly called an experimental ship because it doesn't have new weapons, just improvements on old ideas. The Nova class could fully reset its shield system in 45 seconds, so not even the shield reset is a completly original idea, and thus more stable than another experimental ship. I guess the multi layer shields are new for Starfleet, but Galaxy class ships have 7 shield generators (So a malfunction does not kill them, it is a ship with families on board, sometimes.) Putting the shields in different places is probably the most unstable thing, mabey a chance to recieve extra damage with less than 50% shields remaining from torpedos (bigger impact area on a surface shield than a bubble), with extra system/offence value to make up for it?
I don't realy use it unless there is 5 borg ships in my base...
