i wouldnt increase the weapon range of the probe. that would make them even more annoying, but i would sign a small cost and buildtime reduction.
as it is right now, i only build probes when im done with expanding for a while and bringing in some assistance for the scubes. when i can afford the higher dilitium - think its around 450 dil and thats not really what i would call "worth it", compared to the scubes costs, which are around 350 dil incl the node for optimize, if im not mistaken.

by the way, is anyone building the recyclingcenter at all? i never saw one using it, including myself.
the old recyclingcenter of stock a2 was pretty cool i think, and i would be happy to see it comeing back for the assimilate directive, but the transmuting is giving me a headache.
maybe it would help, if theres a button to exchange it instantly (with lil costs of course), like the tradingstation in stock a2?

I think the difference between Optimize Probe and Optimize Scout Cube is 30 Dilithium.

I agree that  the Borg need tweeking.At least in ver.3.0.5 Havent got 3.0.7 yet  slow  internet connection.) However  as a suggestion why not  bump up the Present Probe  to be node built.Add a old style Detector in its place?  Detector 150 Dia /65 Tri./7supply points. Detector is  a ultra light scout explorer with a crew of 18. Offense 8points Defense 20points  18 System Value.  detector is used to detect cloaked vessels  in a limited range of the ship(Medium Range with 50 % short range 75%). the ship is A little larger than the  Fed Venture class. It shape is  a trunyated cone  for the  Optimize Avitar and  a  squared  U shaped craft for  Assimulate Avitar. It is equipped with a trans warp drive. Special ability is a sensor jammer for the Optimize avitar. Assimiulate avitar  they get a Limited optical cloak of 20 seconds(note will still show up on a tachion scan) The changes to the Probe (aka Medium Scout  allow only after Conduction matrix has level 1 compleated and allow  construction only from a  node .  change  the Scout Cube tobe node built only after level 2 has been reached  in conduction matrix.  At level three  allow the scout cube to be armored with 1 slot of armor for the optimize and 1 slot Assimulator  module for the assimulate avitar  20 offense/25 defense /20  systerm value points for both upgrades . The cost for both  versions could be 110 dia /99 Tri/ 20 supply points.  Tone down the assimulator mod  to  have a 10 second on time with a 15 second off time as not to out of balance the mod too much  .

Actually, the Dectector is in 3.0.7 as a replacement to the probe. ^-^  It does have transwarp once you research it from the transmission matrix.  It's actually very good at harassing small vessels, like mining and destroyers.

The probe can only be built once the conduction matrix is finished, so there's no way to spam them in the early game (you're still making mining frieghters anyway).  Right now, probes make decent heavy destroyers, similar to the KbeajQ, but since 4 of them cost as much as a sphere, it's really hard to justify building them.  Especially when 4 or 5 detectors will destroy enemy mining quickly, while you build up a strong force of larger ships.

One thing I would like to see for Optimzie is some kind of late game Area Effect, or possibly a change to nanites.  Balancing the 3 big AoEs (plasma coil, field of fire, nanites) isn't easy, and what we have now is better than what it was in 3.0.5a.  But I was wondering if it could be changed to subsystem damage or disabling, since the nanites would be effecting the enemy's systems.  Assimilate has nanite factory, which can put a fleet's crew into the yellow, affecting their firing rate.  But with nanites doing very little damage, there's not a lot of are effect for Optimize.

:lol: Yeah, I did kinda brush off Pappy63 very quickly...  :sweatdrop: . I just don't think such drastic rebalancing is needed.

Now why should I do that KLOK? I concur with your statements, other than the cost :P

Some area of Effect weapons definitely need a bit of rebalancing. Nanites definitely make such a late appearance that they are practically useless.

and i would love to see the nanites disappear in generel.. i really hate this "try to click the gui"-game-effect of it..

I don't remember where, but Optec said nanites would be getting some kind of change.

Edit:  Found what I was looking for, but he doesn't say much on it.
