Borg sensor relay use.
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

I noticed against a Fed AI, that dropping borg sensor nodes distracted shots from the Quantum torpedo turrets, and also torpedos from the Starbase. As I recalled, and this seems to be unchanged, Quantum torpedo turrets must shoot at everything in their range before shooting the same target again. I'm not sure what to call this, unbalenced, or strategic, as it uses resources, and I only did it against an AI in the late game, where I had 800 supply and 6 supply buildings, all optomised.
So for now, I am just bringing this up to the community, and I'd like to hear your oppinions.

I only have one thing to say:
Please use this against humans. As often as you can.
Dropping sensor nodes as distractions is an old tactic, several of us have discussed it in the past but in a community this small, some strategies get neglected simply because people forget about them. So yes, they can be used that way, and yes, the devs and many older players know about it but we don't remember to use it.
When people look for ways to win that are outside the box, over time it helps make the game more fun and more balanced for everybody.

i used it a few times but not only are they great to spread enemy damage off your ships it also gives you optical vision in the area
(i miss how they could detect cloak before)
- personally i don't use it as often because it's so high on the tech tree...

Oh, and I do enjoy finding those outside the box ways of play. I only brought this up because it only affects the Federation in this way. If it affected everything I'd say it be more fair.
Speaking of playing against humans, as I understand we have switched our way of making matches some time ago.... I'll have to look into that.

Something Funny showed me: try to abuse ressource nodes against people who do excessive turtling. Quite cheap, and always taking so much fire from enemy plattforms.
Your idea seems to better for normal team games, since you don't need to move your slow miners to the enemy - gonna have to try it, thanks.

abuse of sensor platforms can be hilarious at times, I once had scube and probe group supporting a fed ally and his main fleet while I was off hitting the main target (enemy cubes under construction) and, knowing where the battle would be, I spammed those sensor platforms all over.
The fed guy didn't even loose the sabres or monsoons he had there to meatshield the bigger ships, or even take any damage.

Its a pretty good strategy (albeit an expensive one), it just depends if your opponent is paying enough attention to notice and manually direct his attacks. It does make battles more difficult for the opposing team though, its a shame its not used more often

No, you'll be dead, because the other player will come straight to your base, see you're not building ships, kill your miners, build a yard outside your base, and cycle ships until your starbase dies.

I didn't say youd survive, just that it was possible to get to it.
