borg incubation chambers and cloaked ships

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

i noticed last night that my cloaked klingon scouts started to loose crew when they flew past an borg incubation chamber and i was thinking is it supposed to? as the borg dont know the cloaked ships are there surely they shouldnt attack it.

Don't worry, that's supposed to happen. Borg incubators have a passive ability that drains the crew of all nearby vessels, including those that are cloaked. This ability is only used by the Assimilation avatar unless you are going up against A.I. (who use both avatars at once).

I've never seen cloaked ships taken before... it has only assimilated ships that aren't cloaked.

that ability should not work on cloak vessels .. the klingon scout must have been not cloaked. Unless it was against the AI then that's a whole different story.

i had 4 klingon scouts in a group and all cloaked, they all had 10crew and went down to 8crew by going to close

the borg ai was on hard difficulty

so if it was a human player it wouldnt of started assimilating them?

It shouldn't happen against AI, either. I leave cloaked scouts and warships next to the Incubation Centre of an AI every time I'm using a cloaker and it does nothing.

does this bug still occur for you?

edit: I just tried this but it wasn't capturing any cloak ships including Klingon scout.. I even gave borg incubation center a sensor station to detect cloak ships and still wasn't assimilating.. So yea you should try it again see if it does assimilate the scout again.. if it doesn't then maybe your scout lose crew some other way.

i am starting to think i made a mistake, it was a busy map with 7 a.i. perhaps they got hit by a random area of effect weapon i didnt see when doing something else.

with them in a group you cant see individual crew.. i will try again but i think i was wrong.

The ability of the incubationcenter is an aor-weapon if i remember correctly. Maybe some not clocked ships where around and some of your scouts where in the area of effect. It won't target clocked ships, but it will hit them.

I just put a cloaked and non-cloaked B'rel next to an Incubation Centre to test and the cloaked one was unaffected.

Does an EM Scout Cube make cloaked ships vulnerable? If it was a Borg AI base, they usually have a couple of those around.

To my knowledge, the EM Scout Cube only detects during combat where cloaked vessels are near. Unless there was an attack on the Borg base or they had a double EM Adaptor vessel nearby they shouldn't have been able to detect the vessels. If they were detected though, that might explain why their crew was being drained. I'll try testing if detected cloaked ships are affected or not.

A cloaked tavara in the near of of an enemy borg ship was attacked. The enemy borg ship was an adaptor. (going up and down in a blue color) They detected me and my crew was slightly drained. Maybe this helps.

If it was glowing blue, then it should be an EM Adaptor. Those ones apparently detect cloaked ships without battle.

And so the incubation center can drain the crew of scouts, by sending EM-Adaptors. Still, they detect superior cloaking devices... thats hard. On the other hand: The borg have no other source of detecting superior cloaks... so lets wait for the patch. :-)
