The split-fire is very intentional, if there were a mode to disable it then people would leave that mode on all the time.  It adds to the fleet support role and makes the turret crappier at preventing raids.

In fact, if I remember correctly, the Phaser turret was originally meant to split fire as well but the game engine didn't do it right.

yeah, i definitely want the torp turret to stay split fire, it should stay almost useless on its own. this game is about fleets. just the risner photon turret is way more useful because of its non split fire. i think it should get split fire photons, and join gayson's turret in being useless :P

i personally build more pulse turrets than i do phasers as they have a useful passive that helps them serve their purpose longer, which is to delay delay delay.

Well, if you want to compare a turret to a ship you need to compare the overall cost, not just the upgrade, otherwise you need to remove the chasis cost from a cube as well, for an example.
And don't forget the increasing cost of supply, as mentioned, for a real long term comparison.
Otherwise you just end up in faulty math :P

Just saying, read my complete post and think about it. Especially the other comments about FFA & FO.



Last but not least... i just agree with Myles and Tryptic. Nothing to add.
