Balancing Nebulae for Borg
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Hard indeed. I wonder if Optec could change the Nebula values for Mutara's to increase sensor range a little bit. Sometimes I feel as though it's impossible even to SEE an enemy in the Mutara.
Dom Edit: just thought that this was getting gradually more and more off topic, so it should be split and moved to a relevant board

Well, that's what makes it fun when you have two non-Borg
. I just think Borg need some detrimental effects as well in those nebulae to compensate

Couldn't agree more

I'm sure there is some creativity out there to be had, because for sure a map like this will have a little trouble handling Borg.

Coincidentally, Beta Aquilae is updated slightly now, along with a number of other maps.

If a nebula had an energy drain effect, that would hamper borg.
Also, if shields didn't suddenly go away 100%, but drianed gradually over a period of 5-10s, that would take the bite off of borg running to a nebula. (it would then take 5-10 sec to regain once shielded ships left the nebula)

Well the mutara nebula should disable shields and sensors instantly, as it s in the movie. Energy drain for Borg should be fine. In case of the fluid nebula i'm not aware of any canon sources, so perhaps a progressive shield loss is a nice solution.

To be fair, when moving ships, the computer actually tries to path around nebulae. Its pretty hard to use nebulae effectively, imo. Everytime I try to path a ship into one it requires my complete attention.

Well it needs your comlete attention, but take a look at some of the "awesome youtube replays" by yandoman. There you can see that tactic used to great extend and success.

It only paths around if you don't click in the nebuala. If you tell a ship to go in from anywhere on the map, it'll go in without a care even if it's a Metreon or Tetryon nebula

true, but if you click on the distant side of a nebula, it will go around instead of just going strait through. can be a real pain sometimes. Thank god for manual pathing

I remember TNG:Best of Both Worlds had a Borg Cube firing into a nebula to get the Enterprise out, maybe if you could tell your ships fire into the general area you think a ship is in in the nebula by giving them a special attack order. Also would be useful for outside nebulae by firing where you think a cloaked ship (or Romulan Station) is.

The charges that Cube fired seem similar to the Serkas' Quadcobalts, which seem to be a Romulan-specific type of artillery.

Yeah, the Cube used something called "Gravimetric Charges" which were probably some sort of homing concussive torpedo - seems fairly similar to the Romulan artillery indeed
You can always use waypoints
