Assimilation Avatar changes

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

i dunno about the rest of you guys, but the assim.-avatar feels like a crippled-stepbrother of the other one, which is extremly powerful (and i like that one the most of all the available avatars).

but the assimilation avatar has a few huge disadvantages. okay your able to get the assim-vessel pretty fast, which is good, but after that..?
theres no real boost for the boarding of other ships. the holding beam of the cubes/spheres/etc. is pretty useless compared to the stock-games one. so you got a real big pool of drones on every bigger ship, but cant really make a use out of it.

plus, the conduction buildng (i think its called like that), where you get the supplies, has no upgrade, which will lead to a scenario, that you have to build like 5-6 of them, to get a constant flow.

maybe im missing something important here, gameplaywise for that avatar, but i think it should change a bit, because of the reasons mentioned above.

Perhaps you're missing the matrix-teleport-thing  :borg:
To beam a bunch of drones (about 175?) aboard any vessel across a map with just one click is pretty cool and helps a lot if you're capturing your opponent's fleet to reinforce your own.
I'd call that powerfull enogh  B)

maybe i should play a round against a easy AI to test things out, cause i got no clue, what you're talking about ^^

the "assimilation" assimilator is a nice addition to earlier game stages. it can carry 2 assimilation modules and still has one free module slot to play with

alright, played another round with it.
the assimilation matrix is a nice addition, but i wouldnt consider it "powerful". it might come in handy, when your outnumbered by small vessels in the beginning. but i would still prefer a lil bit more agressive and ship-wise assimilation/boarding bonus/special/upgrade/thing,
the early access to the assimilator is a good thing, thats true,
but its definitly harder to get a foot in, compared to the other avatar, especially when it comes to bigger ships. well, thats just my experience with it.

So which bonuses make the Optimisation avatar more powerful than the Assimilation avatar?
I only ask cause IMO its the other way around. In Optimisation u get a new module for the Sphere and the Recycling station, both of which are powerful but IMO the early Assimilator outweights them. If you play against hard opposition you will find out exactly what Im saying, when the small/medium ships start comming and you are only able to build the Scout Cube and the Probe things really get difficult, especially since that Borg Priority upgrade is expensive as hell.
On the other hand u can quickly build 3 scout cubes and then simply move on to the Assimilator, which in turn raises your priority quite a lot per unit build. With that u also get many other enemy ships that the Assimilator drains and your Central station recrews ;)

Honestly I havent played enough yet to really verdict on the Avatars, but from what I experianced thus far its the other way around of your statement :)

the upgrade on the station is very helpful, cause with all the modules on the ships, you can run out of supplies pretty fast, and that way, you can use the kept ressources for another station on scoutcubes, witha beam-module,
a few of them (like 5-8) combined with the devastating attack and the high energy slicer, will shredder entire fleets of small ships into pieces. the only real counter for that is something like the feds warp-in station (which is kinda imbalanced in multiplayer, cause it can easily be abused to send a descent to the enemies base in earlygame - but thats another story ).

but really, i find it a lot easier to use optimization and the aboved mentioned tactic, instead of assimilation and trying to capture small ship after small ship.
to be honest, i think with an agressive teleport-holding-beam or anything like that, the assimilation avatar would rock.

I don't think that the assimilate Avatar needs a ressource plus as the optimizer, due to the fact that he doesn't need them! Once he got some assimilators he assimilates everything and doesn't have to build so much ships. But I agree, the holding beam is really... too slow, I rather use the auto-assimilator to capture ships. :borg:
