Who has it?

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

Who has a copy of the MS3D SOD importer/exporter files? One time I downloaded the ones provided through A2files but the Importer dll (or ddl, I'm unsure which) was not included. So, can someone post a zip of it if possible? I was thinking of getting an MS3D license but I need those things in order for the MS3D to be of any use.

Simple answer is you won't get a non-stock importer.

The one at A2-Files comes with an importer to import models that were released with A2 ie stock models, I had the non-stock importer a very long time ago, I was given it by one of the few people who had it, he gave it to me to import a model of my own I'd lost the max file for and I can honestly say I never used it again after that there just wasn't a use for it.

The best thing to do if your learning A2 modding is download the Westworlds big book of modding from A2 files and learn from that, there is even a modelling tutorial in there.

If ur asking for the un-locked importer I cant help u there. I got my sod plugins from chumbasoft which I belive are the same u find on a2 files...

Im not a modeler but I would like the unlocked importer to add hps to some models ive found...or too at least see their hardpoints since not everyone releases hp maps for their models. I have tried using assimview but it crashes on most sods I open with it....

Unfortunately the unlocked sod importers were only released to a few of us, and we were instructed never to distribute it. I had it at one point, but the one I had didn't import hardpoints (I don't remember if the other version did), and as that's all I'd ever use it for, it seems to have vanished into the archive drives here.

Basically, if you want to map the hardpoints, add two or three phasers of different colours to the ship odf, say, a red one to hp01, blue to hp02, green to hp03. Go ingame. Attack something. Write down which weapon comes from where. Repeat with hp04, hp05, hp06. It's a long way round, but it's the ONLY way round.

If you know how to write code it isn't that hard to change the one available one on File Front.  And there is an available Hard point importer that works great.

Heh, that is funny, cus I did the same thing.  If I remember correctly you can't delete the lines, but you have to change the bind in every mention of the stock ships.  The problem is having the correct program to edit them, because the .dll files have to be changed to, so good luck finding that.  If you can somehow change the ship so it is all togeather,or all one piece as it says in the coding, you might not have to do anything.  As far as I'm concerned, I gave up and got rid of my, sadly working copy of milkshape, because I have no modeling talent, and I needed more room on my hard drive.  I can only write code, so I leavit to people like the FO team to create the models, and I will do what I can with .odfs.

Oh, and you might find what you are looking for here http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/download.html I believe you are looking for the one that says SFC/Armada/BC/Others import and export with hardpoint/node editing by Chris Graham, Assimilation Software
