Two requests for current features

OK first I know you guys are finishing off V3 so I don't expect anything any time soon but I wanted to add these here

Request 1: The experience system

Firstly The experience system works by ships gaining experience by destroying other ships but I was wondering is it not possible to add a new command for weapon odfs so that they can gain experience from firing certain weapons as well as destroying other ships.

I'm thinking here that this is mainly for non-combat ships e.g. repair ships and mining freighters so when they use their mining beam or repair beam they can also gain levels. I personally was also thinking of using it with an assimilation based weapon with a ship that doesn't have any other weapons so that ship can gain levels.


Request 2: The replace weapon

This is something that relates to a mod I'm working on but I'm sure has other uses, I wanted to be able to fire the replace weapon so I can create a colony station away from my main base. In the mod I don't want you to be able to have two bases right next to each other so my idea was to be able to fire a colony pod out that has a minimum range which will create a small station which then 'evolves' into another base, the small station would be weak and defenceless so the enemy can destroy it before you evolve it if they attack hence not being able to create a starbase right next to their shipyards.

So my request is a target able replace weapon that would create a ship at the location you click at, Either that or being able to set the team the u-ball you create belongs to.

1: yes, that approach would be great but is actually far from being easy as experience has to be programmed for every weapon individually. but yea, i will keep that in mind

2: is in the dev version already though it isn't tested much yet :)

i like option one, i mean freighters can become realy worth protecting etc, same as a good medic!

I like the second option, if we weren't going for cannonical appeal in this game. It seems something that would be more...proper...in a game that's more fantasy, rather than a tv-based game.
I LOVE this option, don't get me wrong, it's SO cool. It's just...not very cannon, in my opinion.

It was more a request for my own mod which isn't Star Trek based, however my idea was to have a construction pod 'fired' from the main base to a position, in other words it looks like its travelling to its destination and it then constructs a new base there, I don't see why it can't work in Star Trek too unless I'm misunderstanding your post, I just want to be able to limit how close you can have bases to each other.

I was just saying that starbases don't fire pods that suddenly turn into other starbases, is what I meant. They gotta be built from spaceframes, then added onto, etc, etc ,etc.
