Hi
I'm new to the whole modding area and I can't for the life of me work out how to edit the .tt sections of the mods I've looked at.
I can open the files in notepad, but it won't give me the option to save the file...

Can someone please help?

Hi, thanks for that. The tech tree file was on read only, which I've now changed...but still won't let me save it, I keep getting an error message about not being able to make the path =/

I'm on Vista Basic.
I've installed the game onto my external hard drive...but I don't see how that would make any difference =/

It's letting me edit that way...& I've made sure to keep a back up of any files I change hehe

Once I've edited this bit, I'll playtest & hope I haven't killed it lol

I've downloaded a few mods from http://armada2.filefront.com/ and tried to add them into my game following the instrctions each of them come with. I make all the changes they say I have to and so far, all it does is crash my game
The first one I tried was: http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Federation_Orbital_Habitat_Station;79262

Following the instructions included - with help from Blade on how to implement them - I ran a game, which loaded, but proceded to crash upon completion...without getting to the game screen =/

I think I've made some progress! I've followed the instructions in the habitat station folder again nad now when I run a game, it doesn't crash. Downside is, there's no option on any ship or station to build a hab station

Did you add the ship to the build list?  If so, the button may be missing so look for a blank spot to click on.

I'm pretty sure I did...there's a part telling me to add it to the gui_global.spr, tech1.tt & fulltech.tt

Would it help if I post up the "readme" that came with this mod?

its because you have UAC on full protection so it wont let you touch the program files area for your protection... Thats why you can save it on your desktop. Go to control panel and user accounts, then user account control and turn it off and all your problems will go away...

you could move your whole game to your desktop. :innocent:
