Hello everyone!
Since i dont know how long im having sound problems with AM2, i thought, maybe you can help me.
I dont hear any vessels (firing, going to warp etc.) UNLESS they are almost off my screen, i dont hear any person talking in the intro or when you click a ship, and i dont hear any music. Yes i have enabled the settings...
But I don't know how to solve this
Im using Vista 32 bit, no SP; with AM patched to 1.25
If you need additional data just ask it.

Possible reasons:
- You may need to update the driver for the sound card, or even the sound card itself
- You may have to make sure the Audio is not on surround, but rather on stereo or mono depending on your sound output.
- The Speakers may need a new driver
- The Speakers could be defective
If all of these prove false, then I dunno what it could be.

So i'm not 100 percent sure this will address your issue but you don't need to patch Armada before you install fleetops. Do a clean install of Fleetops using 3.0.6 installer first, point it to the Armada CD for whatever files it needs then install the 3.0.7 patch and the multimedia pack. (If you want).
If this does not work try updating your sound drivers... what sound card do you have?

...and sometimes, when nothing else seems to work, a good old reinstall can fix the weirdest issues

There basically is no music in Fleet Operations unless you install the multimedia pack (available in the downloads section).
Patch 1.25 is only for the original Armada 2, don't install it onto a Fleet Operations installation and don't install Fleet Operations onto an Armada 2 installation, doing either of these can create big problems with either or both games.
For Fleet Operations, install 3.0.6 first, then the 3.0.7 patch, then the multimedia pack.
For vanilla Armada 2, install Armada 2, then I think you install the 1.1 patch, then install the 1.25 patch.
If the installation isn't the problem it could be any of the problems already mentioned.

There's no sound in space! Don't sweat it!

Actually there is sound in space, but not in the hearing range of the human ear, normally between 12 Hz - 20,000 Hz.

What do you mean?
There are waves of altering pressure of interstellar media in space, but their pressure is near zero, a little more if you cross a planetar nebula or a perturberance. I would not call that sound.

but space has a mass, stars, nebula, planets, galaxies only account for around 40% of matters. The other 60% is Dark Matter and it has a mass, and so waves of energy (sound waves) would be able to effect it. As to what volume the waves would produce is unknown as the total mass and dencity of Dark Matter has yet to be messured.
But back on topic

Lol there isnt any sound in space since sound is acutally moving air, and since there is no air in space....
Anyway i dont use fleetops, i only use the patch project, otherwise i would have posted it in that forum
I don't use surround sound, just plain old stereo
and my audio dirver(s) are up to date and work with every game, exept armada 2, and no sound doesnt work with plain AM either..

Then you're just another blind person conditioned to think in a certain way. You didn't want to understand on single thing from what Dexter and Snapshot 9 said.
