Ok, it seems to be a typo in those instructions. You're looking for the "tech1" file in the techtree folder. The two files you'll consistently edit in the techtree folder are "tech1" and "fulltech"

Thanks for the link I am downloading now.
If it was only one file I would agree about the typo. I have seen that file listed in several instructions. I am however pleased to hear that I wasn't completely insane as I have spent a lot of time on this and was starting to sorda understand the writing on the wall and believed those 2 files were the primary ones.

Ok, you downloaded the file, but did you get it installed into FO before trying to play it? Just in case, after you download it go to Activision--->Star Trek Armada 2 Fleet Operations--->Data and in that Data folder there should be a folder named "mods" if there isn't then add a new folder in there and name it "mods"

Then unzip the contents of the Classic mod you just downloaded into the "mods" folder and then when you load up FO and go to options--->mods you should see the Classic mod listed.

I would be happy if I could get excelsior mod to work, Original Enterprise Mod, and most of all DS9. I wanna be able to play thru Armada with all the cool ships and stations etc not just what is standard.

Something to consider when installing mods for Armada: 1) I would always start with a fresh install of the game. 2. Then I would install the respective patches. 3. Lastly, install the mod.

Keep in mind, the single ship or station mods will typical over write each other. Best to always extract these to another location, then manually instal the files, adjusting accordingly.

An older reference worth reading would be Westworld's Big Book on Modding.
