Game jumping.

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

Hey,

Basically when playing the game it jumps a little bit. I've only noticed on the big games such as 4v4...

I assume this is natural?

Any know fixes?

Thanks guys.

By 'Jumps' you mean it freezes for a second before resuming? Are you playing versus the AI? What are your system specs?

I think he means lagging. This is pretty normal: it could be due to the network you are using, the computers involved, etc. Don't know if this might help, but you could try using Wippien: it may improve the gameplay--I haven't tested that many players yet though.

This is on standard instant action.

I have high enough specs to run it with no problem.

512MB Video Card, 2.5GB RAM.

Yeah it likes freezes for a second or 2 then resumes, obviously it's quite annoying during battles and when scrolling the map.

It could be something to do with the AI. When you have several AI players, they tend to make decisions to move fleets all at the same time, which can make the game hang for a second or two. You should be able to tell if it is this by turning off fog and shroud and watching the map. If most of the AI ships start moving out of their bases just after the freeze, then its probably that.

Agreed, when you play against the AI it can be CPU intensive especially during multiple AI's coordinated attacks. I have a relatively high end rig myself, but I lower the graphics settings sometimes during big AI battles because I have noticed this as well. It's Just one of those things....

Its especially silly because the only thing it ever decides is : "Send every ship to player [player number]s base"

Plus the explosions probably start to slow things down... :whistling:

yeah haha. I guess it's just the sheer number of ships sent by the AI at once and having to calculate where they are relative to the environment and everything else.

Ok thanks guys,

I'll trun the grpahics all the way down then. Shouldn't make a difference as the designs are rather amazing compared to standard A2.

Once again, thanks.

You shouldnt have to go WAY down since you have reasonable hardware. Just turn a few graphical features off until you see an improvement.

What are the best grpahical features to turn down/off?

Anti-Aliasing (AA) is a big consumer of graphics memory, I have it off... as I only have a 128mb Gfx Card  :D

I've turned them all down, still not much improvement. I'm using 3.0.6, does 3.0.7 correct this?

Umm... problem solved!

You definitely want 3.0.7. It corrects an issue with explosions that remain 'drawn' which degrades your performance as time goes on.
