Converting from SFC3
Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

I've got a few old ships I made for SFC3 sitting on my computer that I wanted to try and convert to work in ST:A2 or eventually in FleetOps...the problem being that converting said ships to work in said games escapes me.
Are there any decent tutorials available on the subject? I haven't been able to dig up anything. Help is very much appreciated.
Thanks!

yeah, actually, if you get milkshape and the exporters/importers, there is a good hardpointing toutorial out there.
.mod files are already in the right format as far as I remember, all you need to do is re-hardpoint them and export them.
All relevant info is in the guide and there are some links to the tutorials in question.
Happy modding!

Thanks! Looks like I've got a bit of a long road ahead of me with it, modding for SFC3 was a lot simpler...
My only concern is the textures, getting everything from the BMPs that SFC3 used into the TGA format that Armada 2 does. I've got a BMP to TGA converter on my harddrive, but that alone won't cover everything.
Also, did some digging on my harddrive after I posted this, I've got a LOT more old projects than I remembered sitting around. This could be fun.

Okay, couple little things that have popped up in the process of converting one of my kitbashes, the Rakelli 'Diamondback-Class' from SFC3. I followed the instructions with the Alpha Channels in the guide, and it looks a bit different with them then the guide shows.
Also, it won't show up in Storm3D at all, so that's got me concerned.
Help?

It must be because of several cases.
First of all, if you have alpha channels on oyur textures, only the glowing areas will show in 3D view, if you set to see the textured version. So either make a set of textures without alphas or just don't view it in textured mode.
For Storm3D: If the model doesn't shows up, the possible reason is that you didn't attach mesh nodes to the root node. You have to attach a mesh node for every group you use in your model and call them "m_groupname"
