Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

Now that most of my crashing errors are solved and that the rest are really related to weapons and Special Weapons, thus can easily be commented out of the ships using them until the problems with them are fixed, I would like to get onto a few of my other questions. Some of these I might have to end up telling my Professor aren't possible I bet, but if they are then it will free up one additional race slot in my mod along with opening up a few new possibilites for my Fourth Campaign.
I will be attaching files that correspond to the questions that I am going ot be asking, some of them will have been seen by you already but slightly edited. All these questions revolve around one thing, combining two races together to form an alliance of the two, this I did with the Son'a, Suliban, and the Xindi but I called the whole race Son's (race = "sona"), but this I want to do differently for some races, namely the Dominon (combined with the Breen to equal - race = "dominion") and the Tholians (combined with the Gorn) this will equal "Typhon Pact".
1) How can you combine two races together but still having both races keep their respective sounds and voiceovers? I would like the Breen to still use the Breen Sounds not the Dominions, and the Tholians and Gorn to also keep their respective sounds.
2) If a new ODF file needs to be created how would you combine the two seperate races' respective ODF Files.
3) Is it possible to write into one of the race odf files "include = "(then the name of the other race here)""
IF possible, I'd like to see an example of how this can be done, thank you in advance.

Does anyone know how this can be possible to do? I know maybe the idea sounds alittle strange but there is a logical point behind it and I am just wondering how to fully go about it.
Also, I have come up with a way to make my Terran Full Race Mod, just using stock Federation and Klingon-Cardassian Ships (to equal the Alliance). It involves doing these few steps:
1) Copying and renaming the ODF files for the ships and stations along with the SODs (they will now have the prefix - ter"then the part after what is after the "f", "k" or "c".
2) the Corresponding Textures will also be copied and renamed and then the Yellow and Terran Symbols will be copied/pasted into the TGA file though editing software such as Paint, PaintShop, or TgaTool2 (The only programs I have are Paint and TgaTool2 (which opens the TGA file and uses Paint to Edit them)).
The only thing I'm worrried about is that this plan will affect the textures for the Federation, Klingon and Cardassian ships and stations for their respective races or will not show up in the game with the textures. Does anyone have any recomendations for this?
Also, I need recommendations on how to combine the races that I've mentioned in the first part of this thread (my first post). I will really appreaciate that, thank you.

I'm not an expert on modeling, but if you rename the textures then you will have to change the textures associated with the model (eg: in Milkshape), otherwise the ships will come out without textures.
Everything else you can get away with renaming as long as you remember to update all references to each ODF etc.

Ok, where exactly in Milkshape can I do that? Also, I only have a trial version of Milkshape so I uninstalled it so it wouldn't exspire on me, I only install it when I need it, is there a free version of the program that isn't a trail and where can I get it if there is. But will renaming work in the trial version?

Well, as i said, i'm no expert, but the textures can be found under the Materials tab. If you click on a "material" from the list and then below the preview box and the buttons marked Ambient, Diffuse, etc, there are two sliders (by the way, this may be different in different versions, i have MS1.7). Anyway, below those sliders are some button and one of them should have the name of a texture written there. If you click on this then you can select an alternate texture.
Select your alternate textures for each material you need to replace and then export the model. I may be missing something here, its not something I have ever played around with myself.
As for where to get a full version from... well, you could always pay for it. I know, it sounds silly, but the option actually exists.

I'll see what I can try using what you said.
I could always by Milkshape but I don't have anyhting to use it for after this project is done, I didn't really want to waste money to do that especially when I'm trying to actualy save my money for now.

I have come up with a file that I think might do what I want it to do, but I'm not fully sure if I should put it in my game to try it. I'm hoping that someone will be able to take alook at it and tell me if there is some changes that should be done to it.
The race that is set as "include = Gorn" is the Gorn.odf file for the race, but the Gorn themselves will be removed from the races.odf file as this is to free up that slot and also create a Gorn Tholian Alliance that equals the Typhon Pact.
(Even though some races aren't going to be apart of it and others don't appear in the game unless I decide to edit a race from another mod that isn't really one of the additional races, but to make them like that race since there is really no way to know what their ships are to look like.)
