OK guys i know this forum is for Fleet Ops but i dont know who else to turn to.  After many years i decided to dust off my Armada two game and put it to use again.  I can get it installed and install the service pack 1.1. The game will start up fine, run single player fin even instaint aaction fine.  The problem happen when I try to join or launce a game of my own.  The whole game just CRASHES and boots me back to windows 7.  I have tried everything i can think of.  DMZ is enabled.  It emulates from windows XP SP3 which seem sto make it run the best.  I am at a loss.  What am i not thinking of.  Here is my system configuation.  OHH and i hav installed lit like 5 times in 5 differnt places.

AMD Athlon II x2 235e  2.7 Processon
6 gigs ram
64 bit operating system
NVIDIA GForce 6150SE nForce 430 Graphics card

All Updates have been installed and all firewalls have been turned off including thoes that are with my virus protection. I have tried playing the game before i installed mcafee and got the same result so i ruled that out.  WHAT AM I MISSING?>  LOL Some one please help me out here.

Also i downloaded and installed FO and it runs perfectly. No Problems what so ever.  I havent tried it out online though any idea whn uthere might be a game so i can learn the ropes?

Did you install the patch project for Armada II? A2 can't run with just the officially released patches, as there is a bug which causes it to crash when launched in Windows7, Vista or really any modern operating system.

Hello there, I'm brand new to this forum and this is my first post =)
If I may interrupt this thread of being fully covered with dust ...

My OS is Windows Vista and back in the time when I worked and played with XP the game was fine and working well but now that I've installed it onto Vista I have several problems:

After having started in compability mode for Win98, being the administrator and having deactivated the desktop composition, the game goes through the intros as normal. But when coming to the main menu, I have a black screen with just the mouse pointer available, I can just hear the music. I can make the interfaces visible after opening the task manager and closing it again. So far so "good".

When I try to start a single player game, everything is fine (exept the screen's resolution isn't fitting well) until I want to move the cursor. The problem is that it's so slow, it needs nearly a second to be where I'm trying to point at. This is bad but it can get worse...

So I then tried to start a multiplayer game with a friend, just to check. In gamespy mode I was not able to find his hosted game and when I try to hast a game myself, Armada crashes, having experienced a problem (windows error message). This also happens when I try to go into a LAN game, after checking the game's version it crashes.

But this isn't the end of the story as I tried to eliminate the error(s) by installing several patches:
I tried out the 1.1 patch that told me it wasn't needed. Then I tried the inofficial community patches which mostly made the game crash even before the intro, none did make the game work on my Vista.

So, I don't know what to do. I just want to play against my friend and I feel like having tried everything, even the resolution of 640x480, no change :-(

I would be so glad if anyone has worked his way through my long post and knows how to proceed :)
Thanx in advance!

Malte

Hm... I had noticed your post before, but I have nothing to add sadly  :sweatdrop: . The only thing I can suggest is to try to reinstall. Have you tried running in compatibility mode (for xp)? Hopefully somebody has some wisdom for you

EDIT: :P @ Myles :D
