what? firstly, what is "definition", and secondly, look at the images, they have EAS's message rejecting your hotlink. i think you've got your wires crossed.
Je_mezu24 wrote:Plus what you're saying isn't even helpful. Especially if you are not answering the question.
easy there tiger, i was trying to be helpful. plenty of people have tried hotlinking EAS images, it's a common mistake, you should know that EAS images can't be hotlinked and that it wasn't a typo you made or something.
Je_mezu24 wrote:I happen to have copies of each of those pictures on other sites and they are all fine there.
you should hotlink them instead of EAS's copies. the problem isn't the image files, the problem is that you attempted to hotlink EAS's images.

@Myles: you just got to know how to hot link an EAS image correctly, and there is definitions for file types and other computer related files (including images) online, I mean those definitions.
I have looked at the images on my iPad in the post and they are showing the Borg ship's picture. I refresh the page and they are still there, I don't know what you are seeing, but all I have been seeing are the correctly posted pictures of the Borg ship.
Might be because I posted them using my iPad, but I've been using my iPad and even iPod at multiple locations with different wifi locations and I still see the ships I posted.
Please enlighten me with what you are seeing.

Update for Myles: Just checked for a tenth time today, my pictures with the Borg ship are still showing up as the pictures I intended to link.

there's no technique to posting images in this scenario, you just use the bbcode img tag and the forum does the rest. you can't interfere with this process.
i see:

if you see the actual image then i don't know why. i've never heard of anyone else seeing hotlinked EAS images successfully, every other time somebody has posted EAS images it has failed. they probably have made a mistake trying to block your ipad/ipod. maybe your mobile user agent is confusing them. EDIT: just tried changing my UA to iphone 3, it still fails.
i'm gonna guess most people can't see your images.

My guess is that his browser is using a copy of the image from its cache. As I've not visited that page myself, I'm seeing the "please don't hotlink EAS's images" banner.
Je_mezu24: Myles is being helpful. He's explaining that EAS's site is explicitly blocking people from hotlinking their images, and that you'll need to host a copy of the image elsewhere before anyone else can see it.

Je_mezu24,
Quite possibly you can see the images as they have been stored in your temp files after having visited the site directly (or copy pasting the links into the address bar..).
You can see what everyone else is seeing by clearing your cookies, or forcing a reload (sometimes shift+F5, depending on browser probably)
To avoid the issue, you should have your own place to host the pictures like photobucket.

sounds like a good theory to me. sadly directly visiting the content still fails (at least for me). i'm guessing only EAS pages are allowed to display their content. for 2013 it's kinda cheap. i mean that's the sorta stuff you'd expect when using aol.

@Myles: Ok, now I truly believe you Myles, sorry if it sounded like I was getting mad at you. As I already said, my iPad either way is showing them correctly, why I don't know. My best guess is that it is what I posted them with so they are showing up.
I have seen images posted and just fine that are EAS's images, sometimes after a few weeks to months they change to what are in your captured image, but its always taken a very long time for that kind of thing to occur. Guess its different now. I'll just have to repost the images, maybe taking them of from my post and directly posting them from my iPad's Photo Stream/Camera Roll.
First I have to figure out how to take a screenshot using my iPad itself. If anyone has any ideas, it's an iPad 4th Gen. (Has a lightening connector port like the iPhone 5) (http://www.apple.com/ipad/overview/)
@Mr.Vulcan, what you are saying to do with the browser is very impossible on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
@MadHatter: I know Myles is trying to be helpful and what he's explaining about EAS images, that doesn't explain why some of the images from there display just fine when hot linked weeks or even months after they were hot linked. All I am saying is it doesn't make sense why they work sometimes and not at other times (sounding like all the time). Just going by what I've seen even when using a computer.

I just did some testing, it appears your theories that cached images can be hotlinked is very likely true. i can hotlink and see any cached image, but not uncached images.

there shouldn't be a need for that. just find the image you want on EAS, save it on your device (i'm assuming ios devices have some directory where the user can save files). then go to any image host, i use bayimg or photobucket. then upload the image to the image host and hotlink that image.

i just did some research, in the settings app, there should be a safari section, there should be an option to clear cookies/data. that will delete your cache i presume. it will also log you out of any sessions you were logged on to.

@Myles: I've tried to save the images from many different sites, and also in emails to my iPad and even iPod Touch and its not as easy as it sounds. You can even copy and paste an image, you can only take the URL address and email that or link to that. I have tried for a very long time. May have been possible on old versions of the iOS but it isn't anymore and all my Apple devices are running the latest iOS software, iOS 6.1.
I have way to many browser programs, bookmarks, and required saved information in my iPad and iPod's cache that doing so would be a very bad idea especially since some I won't be able to get back again like the ones used at church and is linked to certain apps, and the other devices on my iTunes account, including a friend from church who also uses the iTunes account. Any changes I make will link over to his iPod. I've tried it once before already and I don't want to repeat that.

It is extremely impossibly to save any picture on my iPad or iPod like I have been saying, plus any picture I have saved and transferred to the iPad are even harder to upload because I directly want them showing up in the post and not as an attachment so they don't need to be opened or downloaded for anyone to see.

My iPhone will save images fine, it's also running the latest iOS software....all I have to do it tap and hold on the image and it comes up with a Save Image option....

@Blazing: I've tried that on both my iPod Touch 4th Gen. and my iPad 4th Gen. both running iOS 6.1 and it only works on some images, not all of them.
I've tried it on Facebook, Google, Yahoo, and almost every other site I've wanted to get images from; sometimes it works, other times it doesn't depends on the image you're trying to save.
