In the recent 3.1 patch we redid the whole user interface, as it was one of the elements in Fleet Operations, that was years old. But hey, there are other parts of the game, which are beyond their golden age, too. Some of them are definitely the weapon effects and damage visualization.

Very nice, very nice indeed. Especially the Quantums.

Does the shield impact in the first image have an explosion? Not too sure about that.

I was wondering...... how long has it been since the weapon sprites got some love? Could I provide with maybe some improvements? Texturing I can do finely.

Graphics redoes are coming for everything Gamer - I'm sure they've got it well under control though :D

any chance on improvements of were the weapon is fired from as phasers always seam to look a bit poo when fireing (too blocky)

You mean hardpoints or the phaser flare? Hardpoints are done with the bare minimum required (not really important in the grand scheme of things) while the flares would naturally be improved.

The old weapon sprites were among the best ones out there, which is why I added some like the torpedo effects into my "Best of the Best" Armada 2. But these new ones.....beauty. Sheer, absolute beauty my friends. Well done  :thumbsup:

Yep, torpedoes have impact explosions, thats what you have spotted on the screenshot. Beam weapons and Pulses have similar but different effects that better match

Yep, the flares are on todo too. But the implementation of soft sprites in the engine is a bit more work without the source code

And I presume the "odd impact angles" for beam weapons will also be improved upon (square impacts...)? :D

First:  This fuckin rocks!

Second:  Do you know how much more strain this will put on a computer during battle?  My computer is not exactly a dinosaur but it's showing it's age.

I think things are getting actually smoothed out, so it should optimize performance. Don't quote me on that though - Optec would be able to answer it though :P

Very nice, indeed. Also a video would be very nice. As stated before I too feel like a vid would display sprites much better. Please?  :woot:
