Stock A2 Special Weapons

I had a question regarding the AI and special weapons in stock A2 if anyone knows. Each race has their "special" ship with 4 special weapons. Does each race only use the first special weapon that gets researched? I've never seen any race use more than one.

Also, can the borg destroyer use it's transwarp portal? Can Species 8472 use the bio-pulse conduit or the transient rift? I've never seen them do so?

Yes, and no:

Yes, each ship is able to use its 4 special weapons, but not all criteria may be met which will allow that weapon to be used. Every special weapon class has its own AI, which tells the craft when to use the ability. For several abilities in game at least, conditions are quite hard to meet, or are possibly not even really recreatable.

I.e. the bio-pulse weapon is definitely conflicting with the craft's AI to attack. I've never seen that ability used by the AI either.
