I was just looking at the Beta 3 development page and thought "Gee, my old comp is having a lot of trouble with Beta 2, how could it possibly manage Beta 3?"

Right now, I have the graphic settings on 800x600x16, 1/4 Graphics just to see the background nebulas etc, -really well done I must say- and low res textures for ships

And its not enough, and it will realy ot be insuffecient when I get Beta 3, and I was wondering if thers any way to reduce it even more. Well, aside from putting graphics to 0/4 Tongue

mh yep we have a few ideas about that (reducing the starfield resolution for example). hopefully we will be able to add that to v3, cause the new effects do need some extra system resources of course

Well most game players do use faster computers then that and sadly anyone who uses computers as slow or slower then that will end up geting left behind. Maybe one day we can all have fast computers.

With the shuttle trafic around stations, did u ever think of making a button in the launcher that would turn that off. It would mean bigger install and installer size mostlikely but, might improve performance on older machines.

In the launcher the low graphics/texture setting should do a bit more like changing the starfield to a lower version and other tweaks that would improve performace over quality but not affect online play.
