sounds to me like birth of a federation. also a grid game. If you colonise a planet and build a starbadse in it, the grid with the planet and the serrounding planets are coloured to the group that colonised it. It is a good idea but i don't think it is practical for the mod

This idea just can't work for RTS games like Fleet Ops. The games would last too long.
And another thing is that it's impossible to do it with armada2 engine without it's source code.

Your idea is OK for some kind of single player camapign system, where each cell is actualy new mission.

Life is like a box of chocolate, you never  know what you are going to get. And this time you'll get an attack from 3 warbirds Muhaha.

Did they just release the SFC3 source code? Why not A2?

A similar idea was also done for a game called Emperor: battle for dune, where you could choose wich "quadrant" of enemy space to attack. But I dont think its possible for A2 engine, and if u like the idea u can play sc3. cool
