I think that the capital ships of all the races should be much stronger that they are and also much more costly, and thats the reason so few were ever created. This is true for all races but the Romulans cause I think their warbirds are strong enough as it is and plus thats like the most common ship in their arsenal Cheesy . But look at the other races, the federation only made 1 or 2 sovereign class warships and should overpower all the ships that were made before them, the borg, well just like the romulans they also have alot of capital ships, but they are that stronger than every alfa or beta or gamma quadrant ships, so I think they should be more powerful as well. And last but not least the klingon empire, well I belive they also created only a few of the neghvar ships, so they should be more powerful than they are. I think that especially the borg and the klingon capital ship should be more powerful, cause the klingons in my mind have the most sucky capital ship, and for the borg you know resistance is futile

I have not been playing Fleet Ops for a long time but I have to agree with him. The Sovereign Class starship is 70 percent more combat effective  than a Galaxy Class starship, so says the Daystrom Institute Website.

Well we all know that site is a bit off and I think it was only talking about the type 12 phasers and not the ship as a whole.

I wish hyperon had used more periods, kinda hard to understand what he asked. From what I get he wants more powerful capital ships. In reality a saber or 2 and an intrepid (example) can take on really any starfleet ship and win, same for other races. Thats pretty canon and works for me.

I have to agree with you hyperion , I do get the feeling that when playing that alot of the races capitol ships are slightly underpowered, especially when compared to the romulan ships, afew tavaras (and some support ships) can make short work of an enemy fleet even it it comprises of that specific races capitol ships, taking your example of the feds a sovereign should be able to out power alot of the other races ships, i played a game with sfera afew days ago against 2 hard ai's one fed the other borg, when taking on the final ai (feds) we came up againsts quite afew sovereigns and even my first fleet comprised of afew K't'ingas and Qaw'Duj Class ships destroyed quite alot before my main fleets arrived, which really shouldn't happen.

I will admit that afew of the ai's ships just drifted past heading towards sferas base as my fleet got stuck in, but after awhile they did respond and start attacking my fleet but that didn't change much the sheer amount of capitol/advanced ships the ai had in that battle should of made easy work of my first fleet but it held on until sfera ships engaged them and my main battle fleets arrived.

Well the HP of capital ships are ok, but the damage they do isnt, well thats what I think. I mean its funny when you see a group of sovies fireing their quantum torpedo bursts into a starbase and it isn't destroyed right away.
As I understand quantum torpedos are strong as hell, and should do much more damage.
You can see in every ST show, or a movie that when a starship fires its torpedos, the other ships is usually destroyed.

Yeah, taking first contact as an example, a burst of 3-4 quantum tropedos is enough to destroy a sphere, and deliver the final blow to the cube, but it think if they where made that powerful, it wouldn't be balanced in terms of the game as a group of 5-6 sovereigns could make short work of a well defended base/fleet, all it needs is for the weapon strength to be slightly increased to make each capitol ship more of a threat.

Plus those were all shows and movies, the way I see it they are about twice as powerful as Photon torpedos, thats just a guess it seems to fit. The sphere that left the first contact was weaker then one you would find in the delte quadrant or the one which entrapped voyager.

the sphere in 1rst contact was just a lil sphere-shuttle-type with 10 drones or so..... and launched from a cube as i remember right... not that type of sphere with 40000 drones onboard... Wink

Cubes are 100 times larger then the Saber class and have 100,000 drones? Or is that just wishful thinking Smiley
