Really? Well... as a warpin-support vessel it could be funny nontheless. It's not supposed to be the beauty-contest-winner anyways. I would say a centuar mk2 tho Boggz suggested the Centaur as a warpin. A Centaur MK-II would have to be buildable because it wouldn't be "outdated".

Well, after reading through the guide site, and the stuff about adding in more non-combat elements (trading resources, etc) maybe these could be science vessels (centaur) and cargo ships (curry) just a thought. Incedentally, here's a very old mesh shot I did of a centaur...

As far as I'm concerned, that's just one reason it should be included. Though, I've alwas seen people call it the Shelly Class, after the author of Frankentstien.

If the types of ships you could warp in were based on game time (first 10 minutes smaller ships, next 10 medium ships and after mix medium and large) The centaur would fit really well as an early warp in (along with other older, smaller ships).

I think the idea behind the Centaur class was that Starfleet was pressed for ships and couldn't, or didn't want to, spend the time or resources building or designing new ones, so they took usable parts from decomissioned or busted up ships and reused them to create some new ships quickly.

Model-wise, a kitbash works but in-universe, it's size is wrong for a kitbash of any ships we saw.
The only ship I know of that uses that pylon and pod design is the Miranda, but if the Saucer is an Excelsior one, the rest is too big to come from a Miranda. The opposite works the same way, if the pod/pylons are from a Miranda, the Excelsior parts are too small.

The DS9 tech manual lists the Centaur as beeing approx. 381m long which is about the right size for a ship made from Excelsior parts with the known configuration. The one shot in the linked video does make it look awefully small, you're right, so it's possible that a) what we're looking at in this video isn't actually a Centaur, just something with a similar design, or b) the FX guys got the model size wrong (I don't know if it would be CGI at this point) and never bothered to fix it. Honestly I don't remeber DS9 very well, (I saw it when I was about 8 ) and didn't see all the episodes, and I certainly don't remeber this particular ship being in there at all so I can't speek to it's size in other appearences. My personal bet is on the FX guys misrepresenting the model. Although, if these ships were made from salvaged parts Starfleet may have altered sizes here or there as resources and practicallity dictated. The torpedo pod size could easily have been increased for the purposes of doubling as an engineering section. The saucer could have been reduced, and the excess reused for other parts of the hull.

Lol well I'm quite sure it was in the background ... size is kind of questionable when it's in the background. You don't know how far away it is .
