Phaser Turret:
Has range of the Pulse Phaser now, a little faster RoF, slightly lowered damage per shot, to keep same DPS.
Phaser turret has two upgrade paths, unlocked by some upgrade (tie it to whatever you like)
-Pulse Phaser turret - mounts dual pulse phasers. Fires faster than current, with current DPS, BUT is a short range weapon (higher damage, short range).
-Type XVI Phaser Cannon - high offense value, very low RoF (one shot every 10-20 seconds?). Able to obliterate large targets with ease, but has problems tracking sub-cruiser ships. 80% base chance to hit, -30% vs destroyers, +20% vs battleships
Torpedo Turret:
Has 90% of the range of the current Quantum Turret. Fires a volley of 5 torpedoes a shot. Each torp does 50% of the damage of a Quantum Turret. Costs 10% less than a quantum turret.
Has two upgrade paths:
-Quantum Torpedo Turret - replaces the photon torp with a q-torp launcher. Q-torp turret has +15% current range, -10% damage, +20% Refire Rate. Yes, the q-torps can fire outside their own vision range IF something is spotting. Attacks all targets in range (as current)
-Burst Fire Photon Turret - as the photon turret, but it fires MIRV photons instead. Each torpedo breaks into a volley of 5. Each "shot" results in five torpedoes, with each volley having 25. However, each MIRV warhead only does 50% of the damage of a standard photon (meaning it does 250% damage of a normal photon if all the torpedoes hit). Definately an anti-battleship weapon.
Sensor Platform -
Has one on-board upgrade:
Sensor Link - able to link 3+ sensor platforms together in order to form a sensor network, providing a visual link on all space between the sensors out to their maximum range. Base sensor range MUST overlap in some form to allow this link.
I like these ideas... but the MIRV torpedo is rather experimental to be honest. And of course it would take a lot of coding to make it happen. Though if these are to be burst fired, there should be a big gap between, like 25-30 seconds.
On the other hand, linking sensor platforms would prove useful. I like that.
