Besides a complete new look, the new user interface will also give you a few new features, to give you a better control and feeling. But lets start with the Klingon interface screenshots. We tried to bring it as close to the common dark but yet advanced bridge feeling, as you can see throughout the movies and shows.

Now lets get to the new stuff. We have always wanted to achieve a better feeling when commanding just one vessel. To achieve a better control over your vessels, we have added a new subsystem display, clearly inspired by Starfleet Command. You will now see icons on the ship display, representing your current weapons. Reload times will also been shown as a bar-like animation. For further information about a weapon, you may simply hover it. That will help you in particular managing your special weapons, as they usually have larger reload times.

HA! I knew it!  LOL

There was an awful lot of Dev activity in the "nothing you can see or know" section...

Impressive work as usual

EDIT: seems like you integrated some features from Beta 2 and below ... very interesting Smiley

Brilliant!  And I like how the fire rate is added, so we don't have to check the odfs all the time.   One question about groups:  Could/will a bar be added for special weapons, just like shields and the hull have?  It would be nice if I've got 4 remores and other ships in a group to see at a glance which one has the energy for Precise Volley, etc.  Can't wait to see the final product! Looks very nice.

I was just curious about the generic buttons above the ship indicators.
The ones where we can select stop, special instructions, special abilities etc.

These buttons seem to have a standard gray palate - which I completely agree is for clear representation of the icon.

I was hoping we could have race specific changes to the 4 curved corners. Around the icon image would it be possible to have red and gold dagger like edges for the klingons, blue squarish indents for the feds, green and gray talon like indents for romulans, tech/assimilation nodes for the borg, and purple and light green wavy curves for the dominion.

Something that leaves sufficient gray palate to clearly discern the icon, while allowing a full visual integration of the upper buttons with the very cool color scheme of the main ship display section - making all buttons appear as my klingon or fed or romulan bridge command console, each race having its own unique btton shapes and color scheme...

Would this be possible?

@ Serpicus

They've already done this ( similar ) in the current version, I doubt that they would leave it out in the interface update.

Actually I think that they are leaving it out. In the last update the Devs said that there would no longer be faction specific command buttons

Darn, I still think that A dull red, green, purple, and blue with the transparency would be nice.

EDIT:

Here is just a little something I whipped up real quick. Smiley   ( Plus a little Noxter Variant )

Please Note: The following pictures are just something I created I do not know if the dev team is going to impliment this or anything similar.

I hope so. The weapon reload times seem awesome to me. I will feel much more immersed when controlling one ship when this update comes out yet.

I could really see an RPG map coming sometime, where you just control 1 ship for an entire mission. Like the Enterprise-E or something, and it has enough special weapons and passive abilities to make it partially self-sufficient. And maybe use something like to borg module system to allow different configurations for each mission. I'm thinking DoW2 style, without so many levels etc. I know this isn't supposed to be an RPG, but I hope in the future we will have the ability to make it into one ourselves (the standard, mortal modders).

In many RTS' this would suck, but in fleet ops it could actually work. But of course we have to have single-player missions first otherwise it's impossible Smiley

...After reading that through again, I think my imagination may have gone to my head. God I'm tired... Azn

EDIT: Wait a second, do I see a new Vorcha model? And more torpedo/damage effects?

Well, not with one ship, but probably with one small fleet, e.g. the Enterprise-E plus an nebula and a steamrunner...

Hmm yeah. But with these additions, controlling one ship at once will seem so much more epic. Knowing when your ship is about to unload a volley of torpedoes is really satisfying.
