I'm having an issue with adding start points to my map. I'm using a 32000x32000 grid with the goal of creating an 8 player map. I place the 8 points on the map, naming them Camera_1 - Camera_8, however when I open the start locations menu in crt-r its only recognizing 4 starting locations. 3 near the upper right corner and one in the middle (where I didn't even place a camera).  Any help?

Have you tried to delete and remake the Camera points?

also try reloading the map after u delete the cameras. The map editor can be screwy at times.

Still no joy. saved and reloaded, I have the 8 start points on the map but the ctrl-r menu is still only showing 4 start locations. all 4 are still in the same place on the little map in crt-r menu despite that none of the currently existing cameras are in those locations anymore.

Ok I've managed to fix it...I'm not entirely sure how I fixed it but all the starting points just "snapped" into the correct positions on in the crtl-r menu. Now I have a new problem however, When selecting this map to play it it won't allow me to choose the starting locations for myself and the AI like other maps will and picks one at random.

Is there a certain setting I need to enable for this? (a related question would be how do I create the bitmap preview other maps have). This is my first attempt at map making for FO so forgive all the questions XD and tyvm for the help so far.

Timing isn't everything. But it almost is.

Check this out and it should help you.  Basically set it to 800x600x16 and save the map.  Then in paint, you can stretch the image to the other .bmps you've seen in other maps (160x160 in paint, if I recall)  And it should be good.

Kemmer:  Very well, then. I request that you open a channel to Earthdome.
Ivanova:  Request denied. Have a nice day.

Well I followed the previous post and the link, when I'm in the map select menu it has a preview but when I click the "Mini-map Hidden" button I still just get a blank square.

Unless the two are tied together I'm actually more interested in fixing the starting point problem, I have the option set for each starting point to be choosable in the ctrl-r menu, but in game it wont let me choose where any of the players starts. thoughts or ideas?

this thing is turning out to be decidedly less intuitive then I'd hoped it would be..

It means there is no BMP image... just insert a 160 x 160 bmp under the bzn name and you should be good.  rolleyes
