hmm, what exactally do you mean as no effect.  Do they not show up, do they fire at the ships, or do they still have engines?  It all depends.  Any welcome to the forums, And I hope we can help.

They destroy the derelicts then fly off chasing after my scouts etc etc. I want them to stay put and only fire at the human players. I have the derelicts and the guards hidden in a nebular if that makes any difference?

well, then I would make them allies (give them low crew so it doesn't transport over), and double click on the ship and deleat the engines health.  I hope that helps, cus if not, I Am clueless.  You might need to wate for someone who has more skill with the map editor than me.

i don't see the allies option in the editor. I have also just noticed that it wont save my settings. I just wnt into the editor to look for the allies option and found that my disabled engines option had reset it's self back to default settings. I used ctrl-s with no luck. It seems to have kept the team seeting that i made a day ago though.  Angry

Just tried to make a new ship to add to the guard AI.  Adjusted the engine and team settings and then saved it. Came out of the editor then back in and it had only saved the team setting??

Dang, Happens too much to me.  What I mean is to double click on the ship and change its team.  I'll look at how it works and tell you what I mean in more detail in a mint.

Turns out you were 100% correct. Making everything on the same team did the trick. I was able to select and keep any options i wanted after that. seems you can only have one AI team built onto a map. Many many thanks. oh, one last question. Why can Ships put in a neb fire but not turrets?

Oh good you found the teams part.  I had to leave, and didn't have time to tell you.  Any way, the Engine thing is probably caused by the ships repairing them, So what if you used turrets instead of ships.  It would be easier, and work better.    Ah I see, maybe you should use a engine disabling nebula.  I don't know if there is one, but you could give the ship extra life support, to with stand that kind of stuff.

I would like to use turrets but they don't seem to work (fire) if placed in the neb which is where i want them or the "guard ships"? I used the perm disable key for the engines so they should not have been able to repair them? Just checked and there are no nebs that disable engines. I think this may be a hopeless case.

hmm, Maybe you could set the turrets between the derilects, that way, you would have to come into the nebula to find the ships, then get destroyed while transporting, Of out side the nebula.  I'm not sure about the perm disable button.  You will have to ask the devs about that.
