There are still some elements in Fleet Operations that haven't changed sice the very first release of beta 1.0 in 2003. One of them you sure have seen quite often: the ingame user interface. For the upcoming version 3.0.8 of Fleet Operations along with many other additions and improvements, a completely redesigned user interface will make it's way into the mod.

The design goal was to create a clean and tidy look, while consuming less space on the screen. Screenshots of the other races' interface will follow soon.

Update:
An updated screenshot with the latest interface changes. Thanks for your input so far

Very interesting. One thing about these bothers me though; the Cinematic window. Is it removed or just disabled by default?

Very neat fellas

Hmm, I am a little confused though: how can we tell how much damage a system has taken, or how much life remains in the shields in the UI (not the ship in the field). Also, how many ships can be selected in a fleet now... So many questions...

Awesome, I hope this will lead to more ships per fleet.  Raising the bar from 16, to who knows what else.

It's definitely going to take some getting used to.   I like that it's cleaned up, though.  Pretty neat.

Ivanova:  Request denied. Have a nice day.

Generally, a change is much appreciated. Especially removing the cinematic window permanently. Smiley

My subjective feeling though is that it all looks a bit... sterile. Sad

And the amount of light grey areas is bothering me a bit... how about toning it down a bit or adding a color gradient and / or a bit of transparency?

It does seem a bit monochromatic. But I like the 3d models for the build buttons alot!

I agree, it has the anti-septic look of windows Vista. I wouldn't call it an improvement. Lets not get carried away and go changing things that are fine the way they are every update.

Suggestions: No warp-in, warp in ships buildable, increased values for warp-in vessels, new abilities for warp-in vessels, older Federation starships have refits, newer vessels remain the same.

It could also be because it's all Fed that was shown.  The interface may be different for the other races.

Looks pretty nice! i worry though that this will mek fleetops even harder to mod because you now need higher quality buttons and such. Tutorials for modding would be very welcome.

do you gys think it would be possible to add a small info which fleet is selected - only if all ships are within the same fleet?

IMHO this would be very nice. Cheesy

bye the way, it looks very fine to me Smiley

I like it. I usually turn off the cinematic window anyway. My only suggestion is that perhaps the Fed UI could be styled more after the LCARS display?

I suggested an LCARS look, and people shot it down as ugly. The FO style is considered an LCARS better looking than the shows LCARS.
