Hi all...

I recently found your site, and downloaded tha latest beta of the game, and the patch.. first i must say: Activision themselves couldn't have done better!  Smiley
But....

during play, when i point on an area with nebula in it.. the objects on the screen (panels, ships, stations...) start to flicker.. and then the game hangs and freezes,
and even windows is not responding...  so i am unbale to play  Sad

is this a bug?
how can i fix it?

some details:
i'm playing at a res of 1024x768 16 bit.. (i tried lower but it dosn't matter..)
my CPU is Athlon XP 1600+
OS: Win XP Pro SP1
GPU: Geforce 2 Ti 64 MB
Memory: 256MB

has anyone encounterd a simillar problem?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Smiley
I don't know what could cause this, so
could you please go to Start - Run type dxdiag click OK, then, on the bottom of the program, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please?
Also could you list which programs you run beside fleetops? (any background programs like antivirus etc)

Ok....

I added the DirectX file...

The programs that are running besides FleetOps are:
Norton Internet Securtiy 2004 Pro
Norton Anvtivirus 2004 Pro (but i always disable it with an X when i run games)

(there are also some processes that always run in the backround in Win XP...)

that's it..

OK
just looked through your files and have a few recommandations
Graphic card drivers: Although you have a Geforce 2 i recommend you get the newest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com due to unified driver architecture nvidia uses it is never wront to use the newest ones
Mainboard Drivers: Also your Via drivers are a bit outdated, get the newest drivers from here.
Soundcard: I see you use an older Creative Live! soundcard. Due to their delayed PCI writing i experienced a system slowdown in most games. So what i can recommend you here is to lend you a soundcard from a friend for example and then eventually get a new one cause this sound card may not only affect fleetops in execution but also all other games.

Also could check in the task manager how much of your ram is used while playing fleetops pls?

Hope that helps

Hello.   I found your site by accident and I have already converted all of my friends to Fleet Ops!   We are all VERY impressed with the integrity and design of the program.

I am having an incredibly frustrating problem, however, and I hope you can help (I attached my dxdiag to this post).   My computer is a P3 733 with 512meg of RAM (nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card and Creative Soundblaster PC512 soundcard), and I JUST upgraded to Win2k Pro (from Win 2000 Pro).  Prior to the update, my PC ran the software nearly flawlessly (the menu screen was off center, but it didn't effect gameplay).  Now, post update (and after installing all the latest drivers), I find that the gameplay is VERY jerky.   No matter how low I set the graphics resolutions, etc... I get a very poor gameplay.

Any idea as to what I am doing wrong or how I can fix this?  I WANT to play Fleet Ops again!       Smiley

Thanks in advance for your help!

hm, another strange error Smiley
okay, first you could try to reinstall a blank version of beta2 and then only apply patch2 (which is the latest patch), you don'Ät have to apply any other patches Smiley

if this performance problem still exists you could try to make a normal game until it begins to get unplayable and then exit. go to your fleetoperations/fodata/temp directory and attach the log.txt file here. this file includes a log of the engine what it does Smiley perhaps something corrupted your installation and you are missing a file, a texture for example, which could slowdown your system.

welcome to the forum
i don't think a reinstall works in this case
so first i require a dxdiag then i will take a look what could be wrong
so could you please go to Start - Run type dxdiag click OK, then, on the bottom of the program, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please
