Ok, since my last post, I uninstalled Fleet Ops and reinstalled it just using the multimedia patch and "Patch 2."

Up to this point, I have noticed two indicators that point towards a problem in SINGLE play... and the rest of my troubles are primarily in multiplayer mode on my LAN (I run a Netgear hub with another WinXP box).

In single player mode, my problems (other than slightly jerky gameplay) are on the menu screen.  First, the screen is to the left of center for some reason.  It does not sit in the middle of my monitor.  Secondly, the music skips (stops and then abruptly restarts) when I run my mouse curser over the icons (especially "Options" "Credits" "Replay Intro" and "Exit").

In multi-player mode, the gameplay is SO jerky that it's impossible to play it (no matter what the graphics settings are).  My friend's computer is constantly getting a "Waiting for other players" message while my computer struggles for some reason.  I know the problem has to be with my computer somewhere...   but I included my friend's dxdiag report in this posting too just in case.

...and, hey, I REALLY appreciate all your help figuring this out with me.   I LOVE Fleet Ops and can't wait to get it working again!

I tried the driver upgrade, but it didn't work.   ...also, the background music stops and restarts when certain wavs play...  Especially "Starship Complete"

:: shrugs ::   Smiley

I hate to be a pain...  but this has me baffled.

try to temporary disable your soundcard in the device manager and test fleetops without active soundcard. Tell me if it works better then.
