First off, before I start - never, ever, EVER buy a Hewlett-Packard computer.  Ever.

Now, my computer has a bizarrely defective cdrom drive - some cds it just refuses to read.  Armada 2 is one of these.  Now, with Call to Power 2 I was able to install across the network and crack it, and I was able to do the same with Armada, but it means that I cannot install using the B2 installer, as the CD is not in the drive.  The computer I had networked is dead for the forseeable future (overclocking gone terribly, terribly wrong  ) so I was wondering if it'd be possible to release a download which did not require the cd.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums
Currently there is no such version planned cause of compatibility reasons.
Here a workaround.
  • Secondary computer
    • Download a tool like WinISO
    • Install it on your secondary computer
    • Insert your Armada II CD in your secondary computer
    • In WinISO (or any other tool) create an image of your II armada cd
    • After creation is complete, copy it to your computer via network
  • Your computer
    • Get Daemon Tools - a tool emulating a cd rom drive and loads cd images
    • Now in the tray icon of d-tools create a new virtual cd drive
    • load the image you just created and copied from your secondary computer into that drive also over the tray icon
    • Install Fleet Operations and select the cd rom drive with your virtual Armada II CD

I didn't know if ISOs would work, thanks, I'll give it a try.

Just out of curiosity, what compatability issues would such a version raise?

humm i have a hp computer and my cd drive keeps going up the creek, kick it a few times and it might start to read it when you shut down the compter (so the installer starts and windows finish's!)

otherwise, just take nero or some other cd image tool
daemon tools can read any format

absolutly no compatibility problems, it is like a 100% cd rom drive and the image is as good as it's format Smiley

i might also recomed a program called alcohol 120% it alowes you to save game cd's to your hard drive with the ability to acces them via a simulated cd drive. kinda like what doca said all in one tool.

true, alcohol would be an alternative but it is no freeware and has some compatibility problems with some images

It keeps saying there is no cd when there is obviously a CD in the drive.  What can I do about this?  I see it in My Computer, I can open it but the installer won't detect it.  I tried making it an image and on emualted it but it still said its not there.  Why have I been forsaken with such a fate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
