Hi,

I installed FleetOps2 to its intended default folder but I cannot run it.
When I run "Fleet Operations Launcher" then click on "Play" I get the following error message:
"Error executing file. C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations\FleetOps.exe"

Same thing for "Map Manager". I get the following message:
"Error executing file. C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations\MapEdit.exe"

I have installed "FleetOpsBeta2Patch2" after installing FleetOps2.

I have Windows XP (SP 3) with Directx_jun2008_redist.exe installed and the following hardware:
Video Card: Diamond ATI HD 4850.
CPU: Intel E8200 Core 2 Duo.
Ram: 2 x 1 GB Kingston DDR2 800.

I am able to normally play Armada 2.

Thanks for the help in advance guys.

hmmpf; see if there is an error log somewhere inside your flops installation; If I am right it should write one to the install dir;

The only quick thing I could think is that you installed A2 stock and FLOPS into the same folder -> that won't work; maybe use the forum PM to send a message to doca;

I have checked the installation dir and I can't find any error logs.

As for the installation dir, I installed FLOPS2 to another directory.

Armada 2 directory: C:\Program Files\Activision\Armada 2
FLOPS 2: C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations

I'll pm Doca. Thanks for the reply.

Yes of course. I double checked.
Why ? Shouldn't it exist ?

1) I get a random splash screen that fades away a few seconds later.
2) I see a red StarFleet icon in my taskbar.
3) My cursor also turns to a semi-transparent red StarFleet icon.

That's it. When I kill the FleetOps.exe process (Alt-Ctrl-Del) the cursor keeps the same shape/color until I go to Control Panel and change it to default again.

No I haven't.
Isn't this only for Fleet Operations 3 PR ?

Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll try it when I get home.  Smiley

ah, sorry, i mixed up. yes, this beta patch is 3pr only... Tongue
yes, the beta 2 loader was quite error-prone on some systems for some reason. it may help to try to reinstall fleetops 2 into another directory...
also there should be a few old beta 2.0 threads dealing with that issue. i think it was some faulty code written by me back then that prevented to find the correct path to the armada 2 executable... Tongue

btw. if you just wanted to play the borg, then better wait for 3.0 final anyway... Wink

Cool. I'll wait for version 3.0.

But wait, I'm confused here. Sorry for the noob question: Is FleetOps 3.0 a completely new game (new missions for Star Fleet, Borg, etc...) or is it just a revamped version (better graphics, sound, etc...) of Armada 2 ?

Another question everyone is asking: When is the final version of FO3 due ? (personally, I cannot wait to try it out as I saw the screenshots and I think you guys are doing a terrific job !)

fleet operations doesn't feature a singleplayer campaign. it is focused on instant action/multiplayer and has a completely overhauled gameplay.
version 3.0 final has just entered closed beta test on october 1st.

if i remeber correctly the patch does work in FO2 as long as you do not overight the exe file

you could try the FO2beta Vista fix to see if it helps

All right, I installed FO3 with the patch.
I can launch the game but when I'm inside and I try to start a game it says: "You need your own CD to play the game" although my CD is inserted. Any hints ?
