hello... if i am breaking any rules please forgive me i have uploaded my copy of star trek Fleet operations to my website and am happy to host it with fleet ops admins permissions...
since some people dont have the time or know how to use virtual machines.. i had installed FO to there and copied it over to vista so i could play the game.. and i got it working NO ERRORS... this is how i did it

1. install star trek armada II (if done skip to next step)
2. install fleet operations (If tried before remove and install again)
3. Once you start to decompress the audio during installation you get the error about the borg.wav not wanting to go in or something.. thats fine.. go to your task manager... and end the process for the audio decompression (Youll notice the name because itll be taking up alot of memory) this will them prompt the fleet operations setup to complete
4. download the file below (Its about 200mb compressed..) its basically my fleet operations folder
5. unrar the file..
6. go into c:\program files\activision\startrek armada II\
and delete the star trek operations folder.. (LEAVE the armada II folder) drop the fleet operations folder into the location above (basically where you delete the previous version of fleet ops...
7. open the folder and rightmouse click the .exe and run in administator mode.. and it will run the game for you...

I decided to upload this because the update.zip had not worked for me.. so i decided i would share how i did it.. i love the fleet operations and would like to thank its creators...

I host the file myself and its not done on any sites like megaupload or rapidshare.. so you can download directly... (i have unlimited bandwith on this site)

Many thanks and I hope you enjoy the game as much as i do
Paul

Awesome work Paul

It works just as described.  I started out by finding an old copy of armada II and attempting to install with no success.  This led me to fleet ops and the problems you described.  Found your post and BAM! success.  thanks man!
