On DS9, the station had runnabouts and shuttle craft to defend the station before the Defiant came along. I just had an idea. What if stations in the game could launch fighters or shuttles to defend it when it's under attack? Also, I thought it would be cool to make the starbases a little more cannon (not that it isn't allready enough) and make them be able to repair ships like shipyards.

oh thats a good idea I never thought about doing it with a station. you could also have a hanger station that is only for having shuttles and stuff.

Hmm...the only reason that I can think why starships wouldn't deploy fighters is because in the shows it takes like...2 shots on a shuttle for them to lose shields and most main systems, also it probably took so long to launch the fighters, plus, they're not exactly the most...formidable ship they've got. I'm also guessing that the captains didn't want to risk the lives of 2/3 people just for a little extra distraction in the midst of a battle. Only guessing here, tho...

Doesn't the attacker eliminate all the "ships" before it moves on to the fighters?

The trouble with Starbase's repairing ships is that if you have a few or take an enemies Base, you get units scattered over the map or a large area at least. Maybe if only a few could Repair, like the Federation Spacedock for example.
Having the Cardassian Nor class Station (like DS9) as a neutral map unit on some maps that you can take over could be good for ship repairs.

It would be cool to have DS9 in the game.

One option could be a upgrade to the stations that adds a small refit repair dock to the station' bottom. FRD Modules would repair ships at 1/2 the rate of shipyards. No building Just repair and recrew.Option Two ) Mobile Fleet Docks Basically a Small repair frame with Engines . Limited to sublight monement with a ship in the frame. warp 2 with out . Option Three Killer work Bee's and Hornets(standard work bee armed with either one photon torpedo or a phaser cannon on the side. Both are Gannonical in the sense that there were inclued in ( Star Fleet Acadamy Line Officer Requirements, Volume one page 120 ) S-2B" Wasp" 1 Torpedo /S-2C "Hornet" 1 Phaser Cannon . Yes limited damage but a "Death from a Thousand Cuts" is still a death.

It would be cool just to press a button and have a fleet of shuttles and runnabouts launch from the station and start attacking the enemy.

I agree: maybe it could be a special ability only for one specific race... with a cool down? (researchable... maybe called "arm shuttlecraft" )

If it would be for one specific race, I'd vote for the Federation

More like Klingons. They are weapon-mad enough to stick disruptors on Shuttles. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lean out of the window in a Space suit and shoot enemy ships with a hand Disruptor.

Maybe it could be one of those mixed tech thinds. If the klingons get ahold of a federeation construction ship, they get starbase shuttles and fighters, and vise versa.
