Today we want to take a deeper look into the Borg's new game mechanics. As known from the shows the Borg don't invest much in research. Instead a Borg player can chose from a list of Collective Features to empower his or her vessels. Unlike normal research the Collective Features do not cost resources, but will consume credits. Therefore you can only chose a few of them and not all at the same time. Collective Features apply to more then one vessel, many of them are even activated on all Borg vessels once acquired. The effectiveness of a Collective Feature will usually scale with the chassis size.
But now to the complete list of the Collective Features included in Fleet Operations v3!

Devastating Attack
Uses 2 Credits
Fires a medium range torpedo at a hostile target. The torpedo will kill the opponents shielding for swift elimination. The duration increases with chassis size. May only be used once every minute

Sensor Relay
Uses 2 Credits
Places a permanent Sensor Relay nearby this Borg vessel. The Sensor Relay will detect all cloaked vessels nearby

Nanites
Uses 2 Credits
Creates a field of Borg nanites in space. The nanites will cause constant damage to all hostiles within the area. There is also a chance that a hostile unit might be infected with the nanites, causing this players GUI to be disturbed. Special Energy cost decrease with chassis size. Lasts 25 seconds

Partial Adaption
Uses 4 Credits
Increases the damage of all Borg units by 10 percent

Uni Complex
Uses 4 Credits
Allows stations to use an Holding Beam

Slizer
Uses 4 Credits
Fires a high energy cuting beam that will slize the enemies hull apart. Deals double damage to small sized targets. Total damage dealt increases with chassis size

Perfect Logistics
Uses 6 Credits
Allows to install one random module for Supply costs only. May only be used if no other modules are yet installed

Data Mining
Uses 6 Credits
Combine the minds of the collective to double the sensor range of all Borg vessels

Boarding
Uses 8 Credits
Transport Borg drones through the enemies shields. The boarding party size increases with chassis size

Transwarp Drive
Uses 8 Credits
Engage the Transwarp coils of this unit to maximum, allowing it to instantly travel to the target location. Maximum distance decreases with chassis size

This looks awesome, now I can't wait to play it even more. The stations that use a holding beam, do they also send drones over to the target ship, if so can your bases automatically recrew themselves... it was always kinda weird on some of the mods I played to have ships clustered around a base with 5 crew aboard...

Nice job.

A honest feedback:

The images for the special abilities quality rages from excellent to could use work.

Devastating Attack - the ship parts from the ship has a stoke around it witch which the image.
Perfect Logistics - images dose not match the function.
Sensor Relay -  LAcks detail and looks blocky.
Slizer - You don't need the back shape in the back round the beautiful beam speaks for its self the black shape is a distraction.
Uni Complex - This could use some work the cereal is not needed and the holding beam could be more dominate.

-

The rest is relay well done this is just my opinion.

one question regarding the torpedo::
is this cooldown global or per ship?

edit::
2nd question:: is the torpedo a guaranteed hit?

I have killed thousands. I have killed proud young warriors and wise old rulers. I have killed mothers with babes in their arms. I have killed the just, the wicked, and the beautiful. I have done this for two thousand years in the service of His Divine Shadow and  apparently the fun never stops!

Honestly I think that the icons look ok
I think they are going to be smaller anyway, so u wont even notice them that much and so I agree with Mark, worry about the big things and not such unimportant stuff. Smiley

Keep in mind because of the small size of those icons, they need to be readily identifiable for quick clicking/etc... perhaps that explains why they are ornate... I don't know really

Really quite awesome! ... although I am wondering why it is spelled "slizer" beam and not slicer

This all looks really cool.

I do have a question about boarding.  Is this just like transporting for the other races?  Or can the Borg assimilate and actually end up with more Borg than they started with?

It is really cool that these features can apply to all ships.

Oooh...that's an interesting idea for assimilation....assimilate a vessel, and somehow gain their crew on your own... don't know how you'd impliment it, tho...
