Did the internet just shut down?

I've not been on for like 6 hours as I was eating, film and pub, got back, nothing new on google news, on the 6 forums i visit they are all have no new post's no new email (not even spam) I mean has the internet just rebooted or something or have people fallen out with it? What am i missing?
