A recent post got me to thinking that the  Spy satalites and the Phaser turrets and Photon torpedo  platforms could  be made to condensed in to one Orbital Defense Platform . You start out with a spy satalite then  can either upgrade to a phaser turret or a Photon torpedo platform.  with a  ODP control module you could link the spy satalite to control up  to 4 other ODF's as the Master control.  I am getting the Idea from  Starfleet command III.  The special ability could be  simmular to the  Organize  Defense for the torpedo platform/Research Defense  Patterns button now  for the Akira/ Galixy class ships. One would start out with a Spy satalite 200 Dilitium 160 Metal. then you can build a  Phaser platform  by adding  an upgrade 200 dilithium 100 Tritanium or a Torpedo platform 150 Dilithiun 200 metal.  then you build a Fire control Module 550 Dilithium 1000 metal at the Star Fleet Commmand to control  4 other  ODP modules automatically. The  Star Fleet Command Station would also be able to build  a SLAM ship/controled module.    What do you think ? May be as a addon in 3.1 .

That's a really neat idea, but, personally, I think that it would be cooler if that would be used for a defense base. I think that we should still have the turrets available, but have this as a base that you could build to defend an area of space, eg, a mining base? Either way, I think it's a really cool idea.

Here is are BMP  files from SCF Command 3 showing  what I am talking about. The size of the ODP is about the same size as a Sabre Class starship.

So...is the model essentially the same base that was the research station in TWOK? (The Wrath of Khan) It looks like the same upside-down model, but slighty revamped. I kinda like the model.

Actually the ODP is Way smaller  the "Regula One Station"  has   4 platforms , the ODP has 2. Go to (Ex Astris Scientia - Bernd Schneider's Star Trek Site) then go to  Star ship data base, click on it and then go to stations.

The Federation has something similar in v3. you just build a basic platform and then decide whether you want it to become a sensor, beam, pulse or a torpedo platform Smiley

Sweet!  Are we going to be able to get a standard torpedo with a slow rate of fire (1 per every three seconds)  or a twin  micro torpedo option(or 2 every two seconds) with a higer  rate of fire?
