i just had an idea for the borg,
what if instead of building multiple stations you just added on to the main station.
so instead of having lots of small stations you had one giant station, in keeping with the massiveness of their ships
Also since i have not really seen borg shuttles what is different parts of the station moved like a giant machine?
Please tell me what you think

Sounds good; but to balance that one would need to make each individual section destroyable (Otherwise you would lose everything in one go). I like the idea about parts of the station moving quite a bit  Cheesy

You would probably have to make them individually selectable too otherwise you would only be able to do one thing at a time (e.g. build a ship, or research a tech) but the old research stations had those little modules for each tech so i think it can be done

sounds good.
But what if, instead of building onto one station, which could be destroyed in one go by a rush, we could build separate units with the assembler within a certain perimeter of a central core unit - not necessarily the starbase..
Im not going to go into too much detail, but think a decentralized structure like unimatrix 001.

maybe they should be "attached" to the main station with girders or something within a certain distance or to each other

exactly.
That's what I was suggesting.
A central base unit - not a starbase from which or around which we may construct several base addons. Those units would be separately built by the assembler, allowing the user to design his own base.
A certain combo could yield certain defensive or attack bonuses based on the structural config.

you could have a prefixed number of attachment points similar to how the borg ships are supposed to work

yes that is the main problem with making a mesh desine you just have to destroy the first one and the whole thing goes up in dust. like in vanilla when you destroy a research station all of its pods a also destroyed Angry so unless you could get past that then that is not possible. now I dont know how you would set the game up to limit a build distance from a main station.  sorry if I seem over criticla

no you are not being overly cirtical, i have no idea if this is possible i was just throwing it out there for the developers. but what if the only way to destroy the mounting object is by destroying all of the stations on it?

Ohh, this is a tough one.  I do believe it was brought up some years back, but was dismissed as realistically impossible within the Armada 2 engine.  Then again, so was the Prommie's MVAM.  I could be wrong, and it is a good idea, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

the movable parts are ok.
But given the time that V3 has already taken, I would rather have this in V4 (if we're gonna have one)

v4 may be a stretch, but there will probably be content packs released for v3.
