Ok I'm working on a mod and my beta testing game is patched to 1.2.4. The other person I'm working with sentme some new campain maps to test but none of the odf files he has changed. His beta game is patched to 1.2.5. I know that one of the things he has added is max builds to some classes but I'm still running the older prepatch odfs. The question I have is why is my game which is running no max build odfs now limmiting the number of ships I can make of the classes he has changed. Our computers are not networked and we are physicaly about 1000 miles apart. Does anyone know what is going on, and why it is doing what ever it is doing ?

the maxbuildable number command is not new, it is longer in the patch project. make sure you are both running the same version of the PP.

welcome to the forums Smiley

Ok I patched it to 1.2.5. This did not solve the original problem and caused a new one when the patch deleted my ATVI file.

ATVI is a Map Editor file. What problem is this causing you? You can just re-download it from A2Files.

Man I'm just trying to figure out why doing this, not bitching. When I upgraded 1.2.4 to 1.2.5 it deleted one of the hook files 1.2.4 put there and also the ATVI file. Yes I had another copy I could use. I'm not complaining about it just reporting what happened when I did what you told me too. Whats the problem here? You can't help me If I don't give you information. I am helping ON the KA2 mod and if this messing with my beta tester I NEED to know how and why.

thats what i am trying to figure out Wink

on an upgrade from 1.2.4 to 1.2.5 the armada2.exe (previously the patch project loader, that is not required for 1.2.5 anymore) gets deleted. Armada2.execute gets renamed back to Armada2.exe.

if it's not what you wanted to know, please explain your issue again, i just don't understand it from your posts.

That I can do. I have had 1.2.4 installed as part of the KA2 beta test game I have been working in since I started helping Squire James. About a week and a half ago he seent me new BZN files where we are working on the campain. He has 1.2.5 on his Beta game because he was doing the fighters. I belive you and he have already spoke about that. When I over wrote the old BZN files with the new ones and started testing them some of the ships now have a build limit. None of my odf files make use of that command. James was the one who made those changes and those odf files have never been on my computer. After noticing this and finding that there was nothing for me to change in my files I told James and started this thread. I did what you said in your first response and upgraded to 1.2.5. This had no effect on the build limit problem. I think I can code around this but as you say it shouldn't be happening at all. I need to know, if you are able to tell me, what exactle has happened and why it did that. If you don't know thats fine I'll help any way I can to find out.

A lot of unit information is saved in the map files. Maximum hitpoints and crewvalues for example. If you change an odf after a unit has been placed this unit won't be affected. The same happened to the Max Build Numbers. The only solution is to complete all odfs before starting working on the campaigns or deleting and placing the units in question again.

ah yes, no i do understand what you are saying. yes, this i a known armada 2 bug (or feature Wink) and not related to the patch project itself.
we are working on a solution for that, too that units placed on a map always do use the latest odf files when loading a map if wished.

That would be a great thing..as the stock map units would reflect what the updated odfs have in them...i wanted to play some of the stock missions..and the Borg Cube had like 600 crew while Instant Action the cubes have like 129,000 LOL
