Well, let me say this right now... Legacy is
not Bridge Commander II... Bridge Commander is ten times the game that Legacy is...
Controls:Unlike in Brdige Commander, in which in the controls are fully customisable, Legacy has no control customisation
at all... you're stuck with the default controls... which suck (whoever the hell heard of pressing S to go up and W to go down?)
Flying your ship:The game is restricted to a very small area of space. When you hit the edge of this space (on any of the three axes), you rub along it in a
very awarkward looking way...
You also can't do the things you'd except a space ship to be able to do. You can't loop-the-loop or barrel roll, for example. Hell, you can't actually roll your ship at all (whereas you can in BC)... You can only pitch (and again, S is up and W is down...

).
Colliding with other objects:There are
no collisions in Legacy... when you hit an enemy ship (or a rediculously small planet), you simply rub against it, like you do when hitting the edge of the map. There aren't even any specail effects when you approach a planet, unlike in BC where you get cool heat effects upon entering a planet's atmosphere.
Commanding your squadron/squadron AI:Not only do your ally ships not respond to your commands very well, the commands you can issue them are shockingly limited. They are also stupid... so stupid, in fact, that they won't even repair themselves unless you take control of the ship in question and start the repairs yourself (by holding down R and clicking on one of five generic bars for shields, hull, weapons, sensors and engines).
Targeting an enemy ship:Even something as simple as targeting an enemy ship is made a pain-in-the-ass... This part is what turned me off the game completely. Theoretically you hit space bar and a targeting recticle will appear around the closest enemy ship. You can then fire phasers and torpedoes when within the apropriate arcs... However, oftentimes when you press space, the camera will focus on the closet ship, but the targeting recticle will not appear... for no apparant reason... at this point you can only sit back and hope your allies take care of the enemy, because you are effectively disarmed, because you can't fire your weapons without a lock-on...
Fighting an enemy ship:Assuming you do, by random chance, manage to get a lock-on, you will be treated to flat, two dimensional phaser effects and some of the strangest torpedo behavious this side of Slave-1's 2-D shockwave creating missiles. The torpedoes may actually circle around and around an enemy ship, the graphics of the torpedo and the ship continually phasing through each other, before plunging straight into its hull and causing extensive damage... Trust me... it's even worse than it sounds...
You also, unlike in BC, don't get a handy display to let you know where your phaser arcs are located... if your flying an unfamilar ship this essentially leaves you to figure it out by trail and error...
Shields are also treated as one vaule for the entire ship, rather than being seperated into segments like in BC and in the show. Also, when your shields fail you have to wait untill they
completely recharge before you can use them again... leaving you vulnerable to attack for what may be miniutes, particularly if your shield generator is damaged...
I've heard the sub-system targeting is even worse than all this, but I've never been brave enough to try it...
Graphical effects:Whilst the graphics themselves are OK, sometimes ships will blow up in the most bizzare ways... like, for example, one time my ship had one of its nacelles blown off... the nacelle broke off the ship, then
another nacelle appeared in the same place and also broke off... Another time a Borg cube exploded and is sort of blew up to reveal another cube inside the destoryed cube, which also blew up... strange stuff...
Also, the Borg ships from the Enterprise era (wait, Borg in the Enterprise era, how does that work?

) look absolutely
stunningly terrible... this is the cube... No really,
this is the cube!!!
I'm going to have to leave it there as I have to go... but yea... in conclusion...
For Christ's sake, don't buy Legacy!!!
